Inleiding
In een traditioneel-ambachtelijke bouwstijl in 1880 gebouwde vrijstaande BIDKAPEL ter ere van de Heilige Maria.
De kapel is onderaan een helling gesitueerd aan het begin van de bebouwing van de kern Slenaken.
Omschrijving
De vrijstaande bidkapel heeft een in de lengterichting geplaatste rechthoekige plattegrond, telt een bouwlaag en wordt afgedekt met een zadeldak met shingles. Het toegepaste bouwmateriaal van het muurwerk is baksteen en natuursteen. De kapel heeft een rondboogvormige ingang met smeedijzeren hek. Natuurstenen toegangspoortomlijsting. Boven de ingang is geschilderd "H. Maria bid voor ons".
Voorgevel met decoratieve afsluiting geflankeerd door twee bakstenen kolommen met krul- en bolornamenten. Onder de dakrandis een band van siermetselwerk aangebracht. Rondboogvormige vensters met glas-in-lood, deels met gekleurd glas. Smeedijzeren muurankers vormen het jaartal 1880. Inwendig resteert in deze kapel de originele plavuizenvloer.
Waardering Deze bidkapel ter ere van de Heilige Maria is cultuurhistorisch van belang als een bijzondere uitdrukking van een geestelijke- en een typologische ontwikkeling. De kapel bezit streekgebonden architectuurhistorische waarde en is van belang vanwege de bijzondere ornamentiek en materiaalbehandeling. Ensemblewaarde ontleent deze kapel aan haar situering aan het begin van de bebouwing van het dorp Slenaken. Het object is tenslotte van algemeen belang op grond van de architectonische gaafheid van het exterieur en de zeldzaamheid.

Description
The detached chapel has a rectangular ground plan placed lengthwise, comprises one storey and is covered with a gabled roof with shingles. The building material used for the walls is brick and natural stone. The chapel has a round-arched entrance with wrought-iron gate. Natural stone entrance door surround. Above the entrance is painted "H. Maria pray for us".
Front facade with decorative closure flanked by two brick columns with curl and ball ornaments. Below the drip moulding a band of ornamental brickwork is applied. Round-arched windows with leaded glass, partly with coloured glass. Wrought-iron wall anchors form the year 1880. Internally this chapel retains the original tile floor.
Valuation This chapel in honour of the Holy Mary is of cultural-historical importance as a particular expression of a spiritual and typological development. The chapel possesses regional architectural-historical value and is of importance because of the particular ornamental details and material treatment. Ensemble value is derived by this chapel from its situation at the beginning of the built-up area of the village Slenaken. The object is finally of general importance on the grounds of the architectural integrity of the exterior and its rarity.
