Omschrijving portierswoning "De Ypenhof".
Inleiding:
PORTIERSWONING met bijbehorende brug bij het van oorsprong 18de-eeuwse landgoed "De Ypenhof", gebouwd in 1929 in Amsterdamse Schooltrant naar ontwerp van architect W. Kromhout in opdracht van reder A.J.M. Goudriaan.
NB De portierswoning behoorde bij het in 1986 afgebrande villacomplex "de Ypenhof" bestaande uit een landhuis, een gastenverblijf en een chauffeurswoning. Dit alles binnen een tuinaanleg van L. Copijn.
Omschrijving:
De uit twee woonlagen bestaande portierswoning is opgetrokken in baksteen op een onregelmatige plattegrond onder een geprononceerd rieten mansardedak, links en rechts verder doorlopend als lessenaarsdak boven de kleine uitbouwen van de verder aan de hoeken licht afgeschuinde kubus-vormige woning.
De gevarieerde vensters zijn alle gevat in houten kozijnen.
In de voorgevel wordt het dak doorbroken door een rechthoekig zesledig venster, in de zijgevels door twee van boven ronde gelede dakkapellen. In de nok bevinden zich aan weerszijden kleinere dakkapelletjes.
De ingang, ingeleid door twee gemetselde treden, bevindt zich inpandig in de rechter uitbouw en wordt geaccentueerd door een natuurstenen latei. Hier zorgt een klein drie-ledig strokenvenster voor verlichting.
De voorgevel is symmetrisch geleed door een tuindeur, in de as van het erboven gelegen dakraam, en een krachtig omlijnde vensterstrook over de gehele breedte van de pui. In de linker uitbouw herhaalt zich de gehanteerde venstergeleding op kleinere schaal.
De woning vormt één sculpturaal "Gesamtkuntwerk" met de gemetselde brug, bestaande uit zware pijlers en Art-Déco hek, en de ommuring van het voor de woning gelegen terras.

Description:
The porter's lodge, consisting of two storeys, is constructed in brick on an irregular floor plan beneath a pronounced thatched mansard roof, continuing on the left and right as a lean-to roof above the small outbuildings of the otherwise cube-shaped house with slightly chamfered corners.
The varied windows are all set in wooden frames.
In the front facade the roof is broken through by a rectangular six-part window; in the side facades by two roof dormers with rounded tops. In the ridge there are smaller roof dormers on both sides.
The entrance, preceded by two brick steps, is located internally in the right outbuilding and is accentuated by a natural stone lintel. A small three-part strip window here provides lighting.
The front facade is symmetrically articulated by a garden door, on the axis of the roof window above it, and a forcefully outlined window band across the full width of the facade. In the left outbuilding the window articulation used is repeated on a smaller scale.
The house forms a single sculptural "Gesamtkuntwerk" with the brick bridge, consisting of heavy piers and Art Deco railing, and the enclosure of the terrace in front of the house.
