Omschrijving
Inleiding
Daaronder in hoogreliëf de gebogen regel: AN 1910 NO.
Waardering

Description
Introduction
The PARSONAGE - now a dwelling house - in Oudega was renovated in 1910 in Art Nouveau style according to a design by B. Kloosterman, municipal architect of Marum. The construction of the object dates from 1743, the appearance and detailing are entirely 20th-century. The volutes and semicircular crest of the stepped gable are derived from the vanished bell gable from 1743. The reason for the renovation of the parsonage in 1910 was the realisation of the association building behind the parsonage - also in 1910 - by the same architect. The house was renovated in the 1930s, whereby the right side facade was modernised and the right front room was also refurbished.
The parsonage is set back generously on a large garden plot, both in front and behind the house. In the front garden a gravel path leads to the entrance. In the garden lie some sandstone sarcophagi and parts thereof, which originally came from the churchyard of the reformed church. The garden layout and sarcophagi are not protected.
On the street side of the Eastersânning a garage has been built: this is not part of the protection. The back facade of the parsonage has been altered by renovations and additions in the 20th century.
Description
The parsonage consists of one storey on a roughly square ground plan. The roof panels of the truncated hipped roof are covered with corrugated, black glazed Frisian tiles. The roof gutter is supported by wooden ornamental brackets on a plastered gable moulding with simple whip-lash motif. In the roof panel on either side of the stepped gable a roof dormer with overhanging zinc tent roof with ridge tile. In the eastern roof panel a wooden cabin of more recent date: four-light with horizontal glazing bars. On the western roof panel a plastered cabin. On the corners of the ridge and hip rafters three plastered chimneys with chimney breasts. The facades are whitewashed plaster on a grey plastered sloping plinth with groove running up to the under-sills.
At the height of the change and upper sill a red-brown pressed brick roll moulding: partially as a band, partially as an imitation nib-blocks applied to the side facades.
On the front facade a central projection with stepped gable, decorated with volutes on the lower step, crowned by a semicircular pediment with the date: 1743. Below in high relief the curved inscription: AN 1910 NO. The segmental arched entrance section and the three-light window above it under red brick segmental arches, slightly pinched at the ends, with decorative imitation ashlar stones. The Art Nouveau door with wrought-iron cross decoration in the diamond-shaped door light has coloured stained-glass side lights; the multi-pane fanlights have frosted glass. Above the door a round metal lantern. The three-light window in the central projection formally corresponds to the entrance section. In the front facade on either side of the central projection two H-windows with eight-pane fanlights under plastered and decorated lintels. In the east facade two T-windows under plastered and decorated lintels, a sandstone apron, a large segmental three-light window comparable to the window in the gable top of the central projection, under segmental arch of red pressed brick, slightly pinched at the ends with decorative imitation ashlar stones and a higher kitchen window.
The west facade was partly altered in the 1930s. Retained are two H-windows with eight-pane fanlights under plastered and decorated lintels. Furthermore an oriel window with multi-pane steel casements and a steel eight-pane window.
The interior has largely retained the layout of the 1910 renovation including, among others, a tiled half-floor, bevelled glass in the draught door to the hallway, stucco ceiling with decoration, door frames, sliding door and a sandstone chimney mantel with gypsum decorations on the smoke chamber. The right front room was altered in the 1930s and contains some detailing related to Art Deco such as the room door, fireplace and built-in wardrobe.
Valuation

- the special historical value being in its layout one of the oldest buildings in Oudega,
- the high degree of architectural integrity of the exterior, renovated in 1910,
- the special detailing and ornamentation,
- the special significance of the object for the village's appearance,
- the historical-spatial, structural and visual integrity of the buildings in relation to its location in the village centre near the church.
