Inleiding
Met elementen van Neo-Gotiek in 1906 naar een ontwerp van architect J.M. Odinot uit Wijk bij Duurstede gebouwd HERVORMD KERKJE.
Het kerkje is vrijstaand gesitueerd.
Omschrijving
Het eenbeukig kerkje op een rechthoekige plattegrond telt een bouwlaag en wordt afgedekt met een zadeldak met leien in Maasdekking. De toren met een spits tentdak is in de frontgevel geplaatst wordt eveneens afgedekt met leien in Maasdekking.
Het toegepaste bouwmateriaal is baksteen en hardsteen.
Rechthoekige houten deur met spitsboogvormig bovenlicht met hardsteen tracering. Spitsboogvormige glas-in-lood vensters met hardsteen tracering. Spitsboogvormige galmvensters in de toren.
In de frontgevel aan weerszijden van de toren ronde ijzeren vensters.
Smeedijzeren windvaan op de torenspits en dakkapelletjes op de toren. Boogfriesen onder dakrand van de toren. In de zijgevels scheiding tussen de vensters d.m.v. verticale baksteen pilasters. Sobere decoratie in gele baksteen en hardstenen sluitstenen. Geglazuurde gevelsteen boven de ingang met tekst:"Eerste steen gelegd door S.G. Geertsema Beckeringh predikant 8 october 1906. Plan ontworpen door J.M. Odinot Bouwk. opz." Klokkenstoel met klok van anonieme gieter, diam. 52 cm. Mechanisch torenuurwerk uit 1906, vervaardigd door SALA AG Mürten, voorzien van elektrische opwinding.
Van het INTERIEUR zijn onder meer van belang: onder de toren een kleine hal met terrazzo-vloer; in de kerkruimte de originele houten kerkbanken, houten kansel en houten lambrizering. In het plafond bevinden zich decoratieve gietijzeren roosters.
Waardering
Het Hervormde kerkje van Eijsden is van cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een geestelijke ontwikkeling namelijk de protestantse religie. Het kerkje bezit architectuurhistorische waarde wegens het belang voor de bovenregionale geschiedenis van de architectuur en wegens de esthetische kwaliteiten van het ontwerp. Ensemblewaarde ontleent het kerkje aan zijn situering in de plaats Eijsden en daarmee van betekenis voor het aanzien van deze plaats.
Het kerkje is tenslotte van algemeen belang wegens de architectonische gaafheid van het ex- en interieur, en de typologische zeldzaamheid. Gezien het beperkte aantal Hervormde kerkjes in Limburg is tevens sprake van functionele zeldzaamheid.
