Monumentaal, rijk en bijzonder vormgegeven Jugendstil villa-woonhuis, in 1909 naar ontwerp van J. (Rey) te Bergen op Zoom gebouwd.
Omschrijving
De villa is opgetrokken uit geglazuurde baksteen. De zuidoost- hoek wordt geaccentueerd door een achtzijdig torentje, met topgevels en een lantaarn, beginnend op de verdieping. De zijgevels zijn gepleisterd. De bogen en friezen zijn uitge- voerd in gekleurde, geglazuurde baksteen. Gevelbanden met van motief voorzien tegelwerk. Houten beschot in de geveltoppen, afgewerkt met kruiselings geplaatste windveren. Houten, getoogde kozijnen, enkel en samengesteld, met schuiframen. Gebogen bovenramen en -lichten met dito roedeverdeling. Onder de hoektoren een veranda, via vleugeldeuren met zijlichten toegankelijk; sierlijke smeedwerk hekjes aan de veranda en het hoekbalkon.
De villa heeft een schilddak met plat; kleine houten dakkapel op het voorschild. Het torentje is voorzien van steekkapjes. Alle dakvlakken zijn gedekt met groene, geglazuurde kruispannen.
Naast de voormalige voordeur een gevelsteen met opschrift: "De eerste steen gelegd door M.P.J.E. la Fonteyn 27 juli 1909".
In het interieur zijn vrijwel geen originele zaken uit de bouwtijd aanwezig. In de entree aan de achterzijde bevinden zich in een rondboog vijf vensters met figuratieve voorstel- lingen met betrekking tot de landbouw. Deze zijn uitgevoerd in gekleurd glas-in-lood door "In de Speijkermandt ateliers voor Geschilderd Gebrand Glas. Bouoy, Dordt".

Description
The villa is constructed of glazed brick. The southeast corner is accentuated by an octagonal turret, with gable tops and a lantern, beginning on the upper floor. The side gables are rendered. The arches and friezes are executed in coloured, glazed brick. Gable bands with patterned tilework. Wooden boarding in the gable tops, finished with diagonally placed wind ridges. Wooden, arched frames, single and compound, with sash windows. Curved upper frames and lights with corresponding glazing bars. Beneath the corner turret a veranda, accessible via double doors with side lights; delicate wrought-iron small fences at the veranda and the corner balcony.
The villa has a hipped roof with flat section; small wooden roof dormer on the front slope. The turret is provided with small pitched roofs. All roof surfaces are covered with green, glazed cross tiles.
Besides the former front door a gable stone with inscription: "First stone laid by M.P.J.E. la Fonteyn 27 July 1909".
In the interior virtually no original items from the construction period are present. In the entrance at the rear there are in a rounded arch five windows with figurative representations relating to agriculture.
