Inleiding WOONHUIS, deels vrijstaand gesitueerd op de hoek van de Westerhavenstraat en de Apoortenmolendrift en teruggelegd ten opzichte van de rooilijn van de Westerhavenstraat, gebouwd in 1860 op het restant van de Adwinger, onderdeel van de voormalige stadswal, in een ambachtelijk-traditionele bouwtrant met classicistische kenmerken. Het gebouw is thans nog in gebruik als woonhuis. In de voorgevel zit een oudere gevelsteen, die afkomstig is van de niet meer bestaande oude molenaarswoning die naast het gebouw heeft gestaan. Omschrijving Het gebouw is opgetrokken op een vierkante plattegrond, is onderkelderd en telt twee bouwlagen onder een schilddak, belegd met een oranje-rode nieuwe Hollandse pan. De gevel wordt aan de bovenzijde afgesloten door een houten kroonlijst met geprofileerde bakgoot. De voorgevel is drie raamtraveeën breed en gemetseld uit rode baksteen. Het huis heeft een verhoogde voortuin met een lage bakstenen ommuring waarop een eenvoudig smeedijzeren hekwerk is geplaatst. De voordeur met bovenlicht in de voorgevel heeft een smal zijvenster onder een gemeenschappelijke houten architraaf. Links bevinden zich twee rechtgesloten zesruitsvensters met rollagen; op de verdieping drie soortgelijke vensters. De noordelijke blinde zijgevel bevat één raamtravee. Waardering Woonhuis, met een karakteristieke bakstenen lijstgevel uit het midden van de negentiende eeuw en gesitueerd op een restant van de voormalige stadswal, de Adwinger, van algemeen belang vanwege zijn cultuurhistorische en architectuurhistorische waarde vanwege de architectonische gaafheid van het exterieur en vanwege zijn zeldzaamheid als voorbeeld van de oorspronkelijke bebouwing op de stadswallen van Groningen.

Introduction RESIDENTIAL HOUSE, partly detached situated on the corner of Westerhavenstraat and Apoortenmolendrift and set back in relation to the building line of Westerhavenstraat, built in 1860 on the remnant of the Adwinger, part of the former city walls, in a craft-traditional building style with classicistic characteristics. The building is currently still in use as a residential house. In the front facade is an older facade stone, which originates from the no longer existing old miller's house that stood next to the building. Description The building is erected on a square floor plan, is cellared and comprises two storeys under a hipped roof, covered with an orange-red new Dutch tile. The facade is closed at the top by a wooden cornice with a profiled gutter. The front facade is three window bays wide and built of red brick. The house has a raised front garden with a low brick wall on which simple wrought ironwork has been placed. The front door with fanlight in the front facade has a narrow side window under a common wooden architrave. On the left are two rectangular six-pane windows with roller blinds; on the first floor three similar windows. The northern blind side facade contains one window bay.
