Inleiding WINKELHUIS, gesitueerd in de gesloten, zuidelijke gevelwand van de Vismarkt in de smalle doorgang naar de Herestraat, het Koude Gat, gebouwd omstreeks 1840 enopgetrokken in een classicistische bouwstijl. De winkelpui is gemoderniseerd. Het gebouw is thans in gebruik als winkel en magazijn. Omschrijving Het gebouw is opgetrokken op een rechthoekige plattegrond en telt drie bouwlagen onder een schilddak, belegd met een zwart geglazuurde Hollandse pan. De gevel wordt afgesloten door een kroonlijst, die een geprofileerde bakgoot draagt. In het midden van het voordakschild is een houten dakkapel aangebracht met houten rolwerk en een kleine hijsbalk. De voorgevel is drie raamtraveeën breed en is geheel gestuct en voorzien van schijnvoegen. De pui dateert van de jongste tijd, met westelijk een toegangsdeur naar de verdieping. De pui wordt afgesloten door een geprofileerde cordonlijst, waarin een (onttakeld) balkon is opgenomen. De verdiepingsvensters zijn rechtgesloten en voorzien van geprofileerd stuc lijstwerk. De middentravee van de tweede verdieping bevat een balkondeur met een stolpkozijn onder een rondboogvenster. Het bovenlicht is voorzien van een rozetvormige roedeverdeling in hout en ingevuld met gekleurd glas. De beide flankerende vensters bezitten de oorspronkelijke zesruits kozijnen. Waardering WINKELHUIS, opgetrokken in een classicistische bouwstijl, van algemeen belang vanwege zijn cultuurhistorische en architectuurhistorische waarde. Bovendien vormt het gebouw een architectonisch waardevol element in de hoogwaardige stedebouwkundige structuur van het gebied tussen Grote Markt, Vismarkt en Herestraat in Groningen.

Introduction SHOP PREMISES, situated in the closed, southern facade wall of the Vismarkt in the narrow passage towards the Herestraat, the Koude Gat, built around 1840 and erected in a classical building style. The shop front has been modernised. The building is currently in use as a shop and warehouse. Description The building is erected on a rectangular floor plan and comprises three storeys under a hipped roof, covered with black glazed Dutch tiles. The facade is finished with a cornice, which carries a moulded gutter. In the middle of the front roof section a wooden roof dormer has been installed with wooden scroll work and a small hoist beam. The front facade is three window bays wide and is entirely stuccoed and provided with false joints. The shop front dates from recent times, with a door to the upper storey on the west side. The shop front is finished with a moulded string course, in which a (dismantled) balcony is incorporated. The storey windows are square-headed and provided with moulded stucco frames. The middle bay of the second storey contains a balcony door with a pedlar's box window frame under a round-arched window. The fanlight is provided with a rose-shaped glazing bar division in wood and filled with coloured glass. The two flanking windows have the original six-pane casements.
