Inleiding
WINKELPAND MET MAGAZIJN, markant gesitueerd op de hoek van het Gedempte Kattendiep, het Gedempte Zuiderdiep en de Steentilstraat, gebouwd in 1931 als filiaal vor de Firma De Gruyter naar ontwerp van P. Wilschut uit Den Bosch in een bouwstijl met elementen van de Amsterdamse School en de Art Déco-stijl. Het gebouw is thans nog als winkel in gebruik.
Omschrijving
Het markante gebouw is opgetrokken op een wigvormige plattegrond en telt drie bouwlagen onder een steil, afgeknot schilddak, belegd met een zwarte gotische pan. De gevels zijn opgetrokken uit forse roodbruine handvormsteen met brede voegen. De zuidwest hoek van het gebouw kreeg een monumentaal accent in de vorm van een afgeschuinde hoek en een torenachtige opbouw, waarin een verticale raamstrook met kleurig glas-in-lood is aangebracht. De pui van de winkel is bekleed met een blauw en groen getinte betegeling. Boven de voordeur in de afgeschuinde hoek is een rondgezet bovenlicht met glas-in-lood in de stijl van de Art Déco aangebracht. De penanten bezitten kapiteelachtige bekroningen, die versierd zijn met geometrische vormen. In de gevel zijn rechtgesloten vensters aangebracht met zware houten kozijnen met een fijne roedeverdeling. De gevels worden afgesloten door een houten bakgoot met een fors overstek. De uitgebouwde hoek is bekroond met decoratieve keramische elementen. Inwendig nog van belang de oorspronkelijke houten kruideniersschappen en een fraai gekleurd tegelfries met abstracte bloemmotieven.

SHOP BUILDING WITH WAREHOUSE, strikingly situated at the corner of the Gedempte Kattendiep, the Gedempte Zuiderdiep and the Steentilstraat, built in 1931 as a branch for the Firma De Gruyter after design by P. Description
The striking building is erected on a wedge-shaped ground plan and comprises three storeys under a steep, truncated hipped roof, covered with black Gothic tile. The facades are built of substantial reddish-brown hand-moulded brick with wide joints. The south-west corner of the building received a monumental accent in the form of a chamfered corner and a tower-like structure, in which a vertical window strip with coloured leaded glass is installed. The shop frontage is clad with blue and green-tinted tilework. Above the front door in the chamfered corner is a rounded fanlight with leaded glass in the Art Deco style installed. The pillars have capital-like crownings, which are decorated with geometric forms. In the facade are right-angled windows installed with heavy wooden frames with fine glazing bars. The facades are closed off by a wooden gutter with substantial overhang. The built-out corner is crowned with decorative ceramic elements. Internally also of importance the original wooden grocery shelves and a fine coloured tile frieze with abstract flower motifs.

Shop building, with an extraordinarily decorative and expressive architectural design in a mixture of the Amsterdam School style and the Art Deco style after design by the Den Bosch architect P.
