Inleiding
PAKHUIS, gesitueerd in de uit vrijwel aaneengesloten bebouwing bestaande westelijke gevelwand van de Lage der A op de hoek van de smalle Speldemakersgang, gebouwd in 1875 als graanpakhuis en zorgvuldig vormgegeven in een ambachtelijk-traditionele bouwstijl. Het gebouw is thans in gebruik als opslagruimte.
Omschrijving
Het gebouw is opgetrokken op een rechthoekige plattegrond en telt vier bouwlagen onder een zadeldak achter een tuitgevel. De voorgevel is drie traveeën breed en opgetrokken uit donkerrode baksteen. De middelste travee bevat de hijsdeuren en tegen de geveltop is een houten trijshuis aangebracht.De gevelhoeken zijn tot lisenen uitgemetseld. De middelste travee heeft dezelfde dikte gekregen als de gevelhoeken, waardoor de raamtraveeën terug lijken te liggen. De gevelopeningen van ramen en deuren zijn segmentboogvormig gesloten. In de bovenste verdieping zijn rozetvensters aangebracht. Alle ramen zijn van ijzer en hebben een roedeverdeling. Bij onderdorpels en op andere plaatsen zijn tandlijstjes gemetseld.

WAREHOUSE, situated in the west facade wall consisting of virtually continuous building development of the Lage der A at the corner of the narrow Speldemakersgang, built in 1875 as a grain warehouse and carefully designed in a traditional-craft building style. The building is currently in use as storage space.
Description
The building is erected on a rectangular ground plan and comprises four storeys under a gabled roof behind a spout gable. The front facade is three bays wide and built from dark red brick. The middle bay contains the hoist doors and against the gable top a wooden hoist house has been installed. The facade corners are built up to pilasters. The middle bay has been given the same thickness as the facade corners, whereby the window bays appear to recede. The openings of windows and doors are closed with segmental arches. In the top storey circular windows have been installed. All windows are of iron and have a glazing bar division. Tooth mouldings have been bonded at lintels and in other places.
Evaluation
Warehouse, carefully designed in a traditional-craft building style, of general importance on account of: - its cultural-historical and architectural-historical value; - its integrity; and - its significance for the socio-economic history of the city of Groningen and in particular the nineteenth-century grain trade.
