Inleiding FABRIEKSGEBOUW, bestaande uit oorspronkelijk twee gebruikseenheden, gesitueerd in de gesloten noordelijke gevelwand van het Damsterdiep, gebouwd in 1891 in opdracht van de koffie- en theehandel Tiktak in een late neo-classicistische stijl. Het gebouw is thans in gebruik als kantoor en daartoe inwendig geheelaangepast. Omschrijving Het gebouw is opgetrokken op een rechthoekige plattegrond. Het oostelijke deel telt drie bouwlagen onder een afgeknot schilddak, belegd met een zwarte Friese golfpan. De gevel wordt aan de bovenzijde afgesloten door een brede gestucte kroonlijst met consoles, die een geprofileerde bakgoot dragen. In het voordakschild bevindt zich een houten dakkapel met tympaan en rechts hiervan een houten trijshuisje. De voorgevel is drie raamtraveeën breed en opgetrokken uit rode baksteen. De begane grond is bekleed met hardsteen, waarin diepe voegen zijn aangebracht. De rijk gebeeldhouwde toegangsdeur is rondgesloten en heeft een glas-in-lood bovenlicht met een waaiervormig patroon. De vensters op de begane grond zijn eveneens rondgesloten en hebben hardstenen vensterbanken en borstweringen. De verdiepingen worden afgesloten door geprofileerde natuurstenen cordonlijsten. De vensters zijn segmentvormig gesloten en hebben bewerkte sluitstenen van hardsteen. In het midden op de eerste verdieping bevindt zich een balkon op bewerkte hardstenen consoles en een sierlijk gesmeed ijzeren hekwerk. Het westelijke deel telt twee bouwlagen onder een afgeknot schilddak, belegd met een ruitvormige platte pan en is eveneens drie raamtraveeën breed. De plint, cordonlijsten en venstervormen zijn identiek aan perceel oost. De rondbogen van de vensters zijn voorzien van twee extra sluitstenen uit hardsteen. De gestucte kroonlijst heeft een tandlijst onder de geprofileerde bakgoot. Tegen het voordakschild is een kapel met gebogen lijstwerk en wangstukken geplaatst. Introduction FACTORY BUILDING, consisting of originally two separate units, situated in the closed northern facade wall of the Damsterdiep, built in 1891 on behalf of the coffee and tea merchant Tiktak in a late neo-classical style. The facade is finished at the top with a wide stuccoed cornice with consoles, which carries a moulded gutter. In the roof pediment is a wooden dormer with tympanum and to the right of it a wooden roof light. The front facade is three bays wide and constructed of red brick. The ground floor is clad with hardstone, into which deep joints have been made. The richly carved entrance door is round-topped and has a leaded glass fanlight with a fan-shaped pattern. The windows on the ground floor are also round-topped and have hardstone window sills and parapets. The storeys are finished with moulded natural stone string courses. The windows are segmentally arched and have carved hardstone voussoirs. In the centre of the first floor is a balcony on carved hardstone consoles and ornate wrought ironwork. The western part has two storeys under a truncated hipped roof, covered with a lozenge-shaped flat pantile and is also three bays wide. The plinth, string courses and window forms are identical to the eastern section. The semicircular arches of the windows are provided with two additional hardstone voussoirs. The stuccoed cornice has a dentil band beneath the moulded gutter. Against the roof pediment is a chapel with curved moulding and curved side pieces. Valuation Factory building, designed in a late neo-classical style, typical of the last quarter of the nineteenth century, of general importance because of its cultural-historical and architectural-historical value because of the architectural integrity of the exterior and the exceptional use and integrity of natural stone. The building is also of importance for the socio-economic history of Groningen, in particular the tea and coffee trade.
