COURTINE VII-VIIICourtine met voorliggende gracht ter breedte van ca. 40m en buitengrachtboord ter breedte van ca. 5m. Nabij het midden de recent vernieuwde Koepoortbrug. In de as van de brug, aan de stadszijde, de Koepoort, in 1735 door stadsarchitect Jan de Munck gebouwde vrijstaande eenvoudige gemetselde poort op plint en met overwelfde doorgang; hoofdgestel waarop kuifstuk met voluten en het wapen van Middelburg; verkropte kroonlijst op rijk versierde consoles; opzetstuk met siervazen; het beeldhouwwerk is van de hand van J.P. van Baurscheit de Jonge; zowel de voor- als de achtergevel is voorzien van vier geblokte pilasters; in de zijgevels empire vensters en vensters met kleine roedeverdeling; in de gevel aan de veldzijde rondboogvensters.

CURTAIN VII-VIII Curtain with preceding ditch approximately 40m in width and external ditch margin approximately 5m in width. Near the middle the recently renewed Koepoortbrug. In the axis of the bridge, on the town side, the Koepoort, a detached simple mortared gate built in 1735 by city architect Jan de Munck on a plinth and with a vaulted passage; principal moulding on which cusp piece with volutes and the coat of arms of Middelburg; corbelled cornice on richly decorated consoles; superstructure with ornamental vases; the sculptural work is from the hand of J.P. van Baurscheit the Younger; both the front and rear facades are provided with four banded pilasters; in the side facades empire windows and windows with small glazing bars; in the facade on the field side round-arched windows.
