COURTINE V-VI MET SLUISHUIS OUDE GOUWSBOOM. Courtine met: - Nabij het midden op de kruin van de hoofdwal een gemetseld bakstenen sluishuis op rechthoekige grondslag, gebouwd in 1593; onder het sluishuis een halfrond overwelfde overkluizing, waardoor het water van de stadsgrachten in verbinding staat met de hoofdgracht. De doorgang is afsluitbaar m.b.v. een schuif. De gevels zijn voorzien van enkele natuurstenen speklagen en hoekblokken; voor aan de veldzijde van twee smalle vensters en in de westelijke zijmuur van een deur. Het huis heeft een met leien gedekt, gezwenkt tentdak met korte nok met een piron (met windvaan) en een houten gootlijst. Aan de veldzijde loodrecht op de doorgang staande vleugelmuren; aan de stadszijde schuin weglopende vleugelmuren. - Voorliggende gracht ter breedte van ongeveer 25 meter.

Description
CURTAIN V-VI WITH SLUICE HOUSE OUDE GOUWSBOOM. Curtain with: - Near the centre on the crest of the main rampart a masoned brick sluice house on rectangular ground plan, built in 1593; below the sluice house a semi-circular vaulted culvert, by which the water of the town moats is connected with the main moat. The passage can be closed by means of a slide. The facades are provided with some natural stone speckled courses and corner stones; on the front on the field side of two narrow windows and in the western side wall of a door. The house has a slate-covered, angled ridge tent roof with short ridge with one finial (with weather vane) and a wooden gutter moulding. On the field side wing walls standing perpendicular to the passage; on the town side wing walls running obliquely. - Foreground moat measuring approximately 25 metres in width.
