Inleiding.
Voormalig woonhuis in neo-gotiek uit 1874 ontworpen door P.F.W. Mouton. Het ontwerp in neo-gotische stijl is vanwege het aangrenzende monument (de Gevangenpoort) mede door bemoeienis van het in 1874 ingestelde College van Rijksadviseurs voor de Monumenten van Geschiedenis en Kunst, waarin P.J.H. Cuypers en Victor de Stuers een voorname inbreng hadden, tot stand gekomen. Omschrijving.
Pand op onregelmatige plattegrond bestaande uit parterre en twee verdiepingen onder een met pannen gedekt zadeldak met de nok loodrecht op de rooilijn, twee vensterassen breed en een links tegen de voorgevel aangebouwde ronde traptoren. De bakstenen puntgevel heeft in de verdiepingen vensters met natuurstenen kruiskozijnen en hoekblokken. Op de begane grond is de oorspronkelijke woonhuispui vervangen door een winkelpui met segmentvormige beëindiging. De verdiepingen worden door natuurstenen waterlijsten gescheiden. De met gemetseld vlechtwerk en banden versierde geveltop vertoont een driepasboog waarbinnen een zoldervenster met kruiskozijn en zolderluik. De ronde bakstenen traptoren heeft smalle spitsboogvensters met glas-in-lood. De ingang op de begane grond is gevat in een hardstenen omlijsting. Building on an irregular plan consisting of ground floor and two storeys under a gabled roof with pantile covering and ridge perpendicular to the building line, two window bays wide and a round stair tower built against the left side of the front facade. The brick pointed gable has windows with natural stone cross windows and corner blocks on the upper storeys. On the ground floor the original residential shop-front has been replaced by a shop-front with segmental termination. The storeys are separated by natural stone drip mouldings.
