Inleiding.
Kantoorgebouw met winkel uit 1921-1923, genaamd de Rijnstroom, ontworpen door A.D.N. van Gendt in een expressionistisch getinte variant van de 'Um 1800-beweging. De voorgevel is opgenomen in de straatwand met aaneengesloten bebouwing. N.B. Tot het kadastrale perceel behoort een laat 19e eeuws achterhuis, door een lage vleugel met het voorhuis verbonden. Het achterhuis en de verbindingsvleugel zijn niet in de bescherming opgenomen. Omschrijving.
Kantoor met winkel op rechthoekige plattegrond bestaande uit een parterre en twee verdiepingen onder een met leien gedekte mansardekap. De vijf vensterassen brede voorgevel is bekleed met zandsteen en bevat talrijke decoratieve elementen. Het plastische element is vooral toegepast in de licht risalerende rechter (ingangs)travee, die over de verdiepingen erkerachtig is behandeld en lobvormig wordt bekroond. Boven het balkon van de derde bouwlaag is tegen de risaliet een smeedijzeren vlaggestokhouder. De gootlijst vertoont expressionistische motieven in natuursteen. Tussen de twaalfruits-schuifvensters van de verdiepingen vier geometrisch versierde tableaux. De winkelpui is in brons omlijst met aangepaste ornamentiek. Dat geldt eveneens voor de entree in de rechteras met de met brons beklede deuren. Interieur: hal en gang met oorspronkelijk tegelwerk; trap met houten balusters en trappaal uit de bouwtijd.
