Op de verdieping van de oranjerie bevindt zich een collegezaal. Het pand behoort tot het complex van de Hortus Botanicus van de Rijksuniversiteit Utrecht, gelegen aan de Nieuwegracht.
De hortus is onder het adres Nieuwegracht 181/183 reeds geplaatst op de Rijksmonumentenlijst.
Hele pand is van architectonisch en van historisch belang.
