Omschrijving
Complex van oorspronkelijk twee panden aan de Choorstraat en het hoekpand gelegen op de hoek van Hanengeschrei en Zoutmarkt. De panden aan de Choorstraat hebben een lijstgevel en een puntgevel voorzien van Jugendstilelementen. De begane grond van deze panden vormt een geheel. De panden maken deel uit van de bebouwing tussen de straat en het water van de Oudegracht, die hier geen werf heeft maar wel een wegdek over de werfkelders (de Zoutmarkt). Deze structuur, de merkwaardigste van de diverse grachtprofielen, wordt hier nog gecompliceerder doordat het water hier overkluisd is door de Kalisbrug, waaronder de werfkelders uitkomen. De drie panden hebben, zoals hier meer voorkomt, twee kelders boven elkaar.
De Choorstraat is in feite de verbreding van de smalle steeg die hier tussen deze huizenrij en het koor van de Buurkerk overbleef. Onder deze straat liggen diverse kelders. Een onderaardse gang, beginnend op de steenweg, liep onder Hanengeschrei en Kalisbrug door en kwam uit in de onderste kelder van het hoekpand. De gang is in 1909 dichtgezet.

Het hoekpand is mogelijk samen met het ernaast gelegen hoekpand aan de Choorstraat gebouwd in 1586 ter vervanging van het huis van Jacob Huygens van Houthorst dat toen op deze plaats afgebroken werd voor de aanleg van de Choorstraat (gelijk met het koor van de Buurkerk) omdat het ver buiten de rooilijn stak. De uitermate kleine percelen van deze panden bewijzen hoe hier, meer dan elders in de stad, met ruimte gewoekerd moest worden. Het betreft hier geen gesplitst pand maar een originele dubbele opzet, getuige de identieke spiltrappen en balklagen (samengesteld uit slechts een moerbalk evenwijdig aan de Choorstraat/Zoutmarkt).
De van oorsprong drie panden zijn van architectonische en bouwhistorische waarde en bovendien van buitengewoon groot historisch belang.

Description
Complex of originally two buildings on the Choorstraat and the corner building located at the corner of Hanengeschrei and Zoutmarkt. The buildings on the Choorstraat have a cornice-topped facade and a pointed gable provided with Jugendstil elements. The ground floor of these buildings forms a whole. The buildings are part of the development between the street and the water of the Oudegracht, which here has no wharf but does have a road surface over the wharf cellars (the Zoutmarkt). This structure, the most remarkable of the various canal profiles, becomes even more complicated here because the water here is vaulted over by the Kalisbrug, under which the wharf cellars emerge. The three buildings have, as is common here, two cellars one above the other.
The Choorstraat is in fact the widening of the narrow lane that remained here between this row of houses and the choir of the Buurkerk. Various cellars lie beneath this street.
