MARMEREN FONTEIN MET BEELDEN VAN NEPTUNUS, AMPHITRITE EN ARION.
Loodrecht op de ingangspartij van het huis aan de oever van de buitengracht gesitueerde marmeren fontein met beeldengroep, gesigneerd door: I(gnatius) v. Logteren en gedateerd: 1714.
Fontein en beelden groep, die een ensemble vormen, zijn geplaatst op een uit de gracht oprijzend fundament van brokken hardsteen in rustica. Op een brede sokkel, die zich boogsgewijs verjongd, bevindt zich aan de linkerzijde Amphitrite in half liggende houding, steunend met de linkerarm op een kruik, met in de rechter hand een drietand. Alhoewel Amphitrite in mythologische afbeeldingen wel meer met drietand wordt weergegeven is het beeld op enkele oudere foto's van Frankendael met staf afgebeeld. Aan de rechterkant Neptunus in identieke halfliggende houding, steunend op een kruik. Op enkele oudere foto's van Frankendael is het beeld met een drietand in de rechter hand afgebeeld. MARBLE FOUNTAIN WITH STATUES OF NEPTUNE, AMPHITRITE AND ARION.
Marble fountain with sculptural group positioned perpendicularly to the entrance section of the house at the bank of the outer moat, signed by: I(gnatius) v. Logteren and dated: 1714.
Fountain and sculptural group, which form an ensemble, are placed on a foundation of rough-hewn hardstone blocks rising from the moat. On a broad plinth, which tapers in an arched manner, Amphitrite is positioned on the left side in a reclining posture, leaning with the left arm on a pitcher, with a trident in the right hand. Although Amphitrite is depicted with a trident in mythological representations, the statue is shown with a staff in some older photographs of Frankendael. On the right side Neptune in identical reclining posture, leaning on a pitcher. In some older photographs of Frankendael the statue is depicted with a trident in the right hand. Between both statues a bell-shaped ornamental piece with shell work, which serves as the backdrop of the shell-shaped basin projecting forward with dolphin (with spout in mouth), on which Arion with lyre is seated.
Fountain and sculptural group originally came from the country estate Driemond near Weesp and were placed at Frankendael in 1770.
