KRUITTOREN. Geheel in het noorden van de Nieuwstad staat, dicht bij de spoorlijn, de Kruittoren in de Zandhoek (XV), een geheel onversierd bakstenen bouwwerk op vierkante plattegrond met een bekapping, die in 1930 bij een restauratie werd aangebracht. De toren, een Rijksmonument, wordt inwendig overdekt door een koepelgewelf.

Description
POWDER TOWER. At the very north of the Newtown, close to the railway line, stands the Powder Tower at the Zandhoek (XV), a completely unadorned brick structure on a square plan with a roof covering that was added during a restoration in 1930. The tower, a national monument, is internally covered by a barrel vault.
