Omschrijving
Waterpoort over de Berkel. Indrukwekkend vestingwerk (in 1424 voor het eerst vermeld) bestaande uit drie spitsbogen op zware, bakstenen pijlers. Op de bogen rust een weergang en daarboven, langs de oorspronkelijk gekanteelde borstwering, bevindt zich een tweede loopgang. Ronde, uitgekraagde torentjes op de hoeken, en, aan de noordzijde, restanten van een wachthuis. Gerestaureerd 1888 en 1951-'52.

Description
Watergate over the Berkel. Impressive fortification (first mentioned in 1424) consisting of three pointed arches on heavy brick piers. A rampart walk rests on the arches and above it, along the originally crenellated breastwork, there is a second walkway. Round, corbelled turrets on the corners, and, on the north side, remains of a guardhouse. Restored 1888 and 1951-'52.
