STADHUIS. Gebouw uit verscheidene perioden op de hoek van het 's-Gravenhof en de Lange Hofstraat. Het oorspronkelijke middeleeuwse bouwwerk bestaat uit drie evenwijdige gedeelten waarvan het zuidelijke uit XVa dateert en het middelste en het noordelijke, de v.m. Vleeshal, uit midden XV. Deze Vleeshal thans Burgerzaal, een haar mooie, ziende bekapping en moerbalken op korbelen heeft een bakstenen voorgevel met getraceerde nissen en een bekroning van trappen met overhoekse pinakels, geheel vernieuwd in 1896. Aan de achterzijde een puntgevel met in de top blinde bakstenen kruisvensters. De middelste en de zuidelijke vleugel, oorspronkelijk eveneens van trapgevels voorzien, werden in 1729 uitwendig gemoderniseerd door bepleistering en het aanbrengen van een kroonlijst met consoles. In 1716 bouwde men tegen de zuidelijke vleugel aan de kerkzijde de gedeputeerdenkamer, bestaande uit een middengedeelte met vooruitspringende zijvleugels, tussen welke een lagere, zandstenen portiek met rijk beeldhouwwerk. Deze portiek werd vernieuwd in 1902; het gehele complex onderging een restauratie en inwendige verbouwing in 1953-'56. Inwendig: In de raadszaal stucplafond door Jan van Craeckenborch (1639); in de vestibule (vroeger trouwkamer) dergelijk plafond. Wenteltrap (XVIIIa) met gesneden leuning; in de raadszaal gesneden deur (XVIId) in de secretariskamer betimmering Lod. XV en in de kamer aan de westzijde van de vestibule plafond Lod. XV.

Description
TOWN HALL. Building from various periods at the corner of the 's-Gravenhof and the Lange Hofstraat. The original medieval building consists of three parallel sections of which the southern dates from the first half of the 15th century and the middle and the northern, the former Butchers' Hall, from the middle of the 15th century. This Butchers' Hall now Burghers' Hall, which has its beautiful roof covering and cross-beams on corbels, has a brick front facade with tracered niches and a crowning of steps with diagonal pinnacles, completely renewed in 1896. On the rear side a pointed gable with blind brick cross windows in the top. The middle and the southern wing, originally also provided with stepped gables, were externally modernised in 1729 by plastering and the application of a cornice with consoles. In 1716 one built against the southern wing on the church side the deputies' chamber, consisting of a central section with projecting side wings, between which a lower sandstone portico with rich sculpture. This portico was renewed in 1902; the entire complex underwent restoration and internal reconstruction in 1953-'56. Interior: In the council chamber stucco ceiling by Jan van Craeckenborch (1639); in the vestibule (formerly wedding room) similar ceiling. Spiral staircase (first half of 18th century) with carved handrail; in the council chamber carved door (fourth quarter of 17th century); in the secretary's room panelling Louis XV and in the room on the west side of the vestibule ceiling Louis XV.
