BROEDERENKERK (Ned. Herv.). Belangrijke, vroeggotische kerk van het in 1293 gestichte Dominicanenklooster (XIVa), bestaande uit een driebeukig, basilicaal schip met schoorbogen en een eenbeukig diep koor met driezijdige sluiting. Geheel in steen overwelfd met kruisgewelven. Op het dak een sierlijke houten, met koper beklede klokkentoren (1772). Uit omstreeks 1826 dateert waarschijnlijk het bakstenen portaal tegen de zuidgevel met fronton en attiek. Restauratie vond plaats in etappes tussen 1924 en 1939 en andermaal, na oorlogsschade vanaf 1958. Gewelfschilderingen (sterk gerestaureerd en bijgewerkt) in het koor en het schip (XVIb). Preekstoel (XIXa). Gedenksteen (midden XVI) in de zuiderzijbeuk. In de nabijheid van deze steen de gilde steen der metselaars (midden XVII). Wandkasten (XVI) in de noorderzijbeuk en het koor. De gesneden deurtjes van deze laatste afkomstig uit de St. Alburg. Zerken (XVI-XVIII) in het koor.

Description
BROEDERENKERK (Dutch Reformed). Important, early gothic church of the Dominican monastery founded in 1293 (first half of 14th century), consisting of a three-aisle, basilical nave with flying buttresses and a single-aisle deep choir with three-sided closure. Entirely vaulted in stone with cross vaults. On the roof an elegant wooden bell tower clad in copper (1772). Probably dating from around 1826 is the brick portal against the south facade with pediment and attic. Restoration took place in stages between 1924 and 1939 and again, following war damage from 1958. Vault paintings (heavily restored and reworked) in the choir and the nave (16th century). Pulpit (first half of 19th century). Memorial stone (mid 16th century) in the south aisle. In the vicinity of this stone the guild stone of the masons (mid 17th century). Wall cupboards (16th century) in the north aisle and the choir. The carved little doors of the latter originating from the St. Alburg. Gravestones (16th-18th centuries) in the choir.
