Omschrijving
Water- of Gevangenpoort. Rechthoekig bakstenen bouwwerk, dat blijkens de inwendige kap- en balkenconstructie na 1573 (verwoesting van de stad) opgetrokken is. Op de noordoosthoek een op boogfriezen rustende, veelhoekig uitgekraagde arkeltoren (een gelijke op de noordwesthoek verdwenen). Spitsboogvormige doorgangen met boognissen daarboven. Inwendig een stenen steektrap met troggewelf.

Description
Water or Prison Gate. Rectangular brick structure, which according to the internal roof and beam construction was erected after 1573 (destruction of the city). On the northeast corner a polygonal corbelled arches tower resting on arch friezes (an equal one on the northwest corner disappeared). Pointed arch-shaped passages with arch recesses above. Inside a stone staircase with trough vault.
