Grote- of Gertrudiskerk, kerkhof (Zuider- Ooster- en Groot Noorderkerkhof rondom de kerk en het Klein Zuiderkerkhof ten zuiden van de toren), kerkhofpoort bij het Kleine Zuiderkerkhof, houten hekwerk rondom en op de keermuur, groenaanleg bestaande uit gedeeltelijke lindenbeplanting. Grafmonumenten van Joseph Sinkel en familiegraf van Tjipke Visser op het Zuiderkerkhof en grafmonument van Rintje Sinnes Visser en kleinzoon Rintje Jans Visser op het Kleine Zuiderkerkhof.
Van het driebeukige in hout overwelfde schip zijn slechts twee en een halve travee voltooid alsook het dwarspand, waarin onder andere de entree, aan de westgevel.
Bij de herbouw in deze vorm, die eerst in het midden van de zestiende eeuw tot stand kwam, is het oudere, vierzijdig gesloten koor behouden; van het bijbehorende eenbeukig schip zijn de fundamenten gevonden tijdens de restauratie in 1939.
De aanvankelijk slechts in hout dichtgezette top van de westgevel is bij die gelegenheid in steen uitgevoerd.
Inwendig: preekstoel uit 1718 met Lodewijk XIV-ornament door G. van der Haven uit Leeuwarden met rijk gesneden trap, koperen lezenaar 1718, restanten koorhek 1569 door Claas Thiebes. Regeringsbank met opzetstuk waarschijnlijk ook 1718. Briefpanelen verwerkt in de avondmaalstafel en in de moderne banken van het schip.
Twee rouwborden 1716 en 1719, acht geschilderde doden-baren der gilden. In een van de orgelkassen van Jan Harmens Camp uit 1697 werd in 1980 een gereconstrueerd, grotendeels nieuw instrument geplaatst. Het oude pijpwerk werd opnieuw gebruikt. Kabinetorgel met twee klavieren en aangehangen pedaal, in 1784 vervaardigd door J.P. Kunckel.

Description
Grote- or Gertrudiskerk, churchyard (South, East and Great North churchyards surrounding the church and the Little South churchyard to the south of the tower), churchyard gate at the Little South churchyard, wooden railings round and on the retaining wall, landscaping consisting of partial lime-tree planting. Grave monuments of Joseph Sinkel and family grave of Tjipke Visser on the South churchyard and grave monument of Rintje Sinnes Visser and grandson Rintje Jans Visser on the Little South churchyard.
Of the three-aisle nave with wooden barrel vault only two and a half bays are completed as well as the transept, which includes among other things the entrance at the west gable.
In the rebuilding in this form, which only came about in the middle of the sixteenth century, the older, four-sided closed choir was retained; of the associated single-aisle nave the foundations were found during restoration in 1939.
The initially only wooden-sealed top of the west gable was executed in stone on that occasion.
Interiorly: pulpit from 1718 with Louis XIV ornament by G. van der Haven from Leeuwarden with richly carved staircase, brass lectern 1718, remnants of choir screen 1569 by Claas Thiebes. Governors' bench with upper section probably also 1718. Letter panels worked into the communion table and into the modern benches of the nave.
Two mourning boards 1716 and 1719, eight painted dead biers of the guilds. In one of the organ cases by Jan Harmens Camp from 1697 a reconstructed, largely new instrument was installed in 1980. The old pipework was reused. Cabinet organ with two manuals and attached pedal, made in 1784 by J.P. Kunckel.
