Omschrijving
Stoomgemaal bij Winschoten aan het Oostereinde. Vijzelstoomgemaal, gebouwd in 1878 ter vervanging van twee poldermolens. Het gemaal bestaat uit de volgende delen: het ketelhuis onder zadeldak met puntgevels uit 1878, met daaraan gebouwd het machinistenhuis. Links daarvan het machinehuis, in de recente tijd verbouwd. Links daarvan een machinehuis en ketelhuis onder een kap, daterend uit 1895, toen het gemaal werd uitgebreid tot een dubbel vijzelstoomgemaal. Hierachter schoorsteen op hoge sokkel. In dit laatste gedeelte een tandem-coumpound stoommachine, fabrikaat Landeweer te Martenshoek uit 1895. In het ketelhuis een vuurgangstoomketel uit 1935. Dit gemaal bevat de laatste combinatie van een stoommachine met een vijzel in Nederland. Description
Steam pumping station at Winschoten at the Oostereinde. Screw steam pumping station, built in 1878 to replace two polder mills. The pumping station consists of the following components: the boiler house under gabled roof with pointed gables from 1878, with adjoining machine operator's house. To the left of it the engine house, recently altered. To the left of it an engine house and boiler house under a roof, dating from 1895, when the pumping station was expanded to a double screw steam pumping station. Behind this chimney on high plinth. In this latter section a tandem-compound steam engine, manufactured by Landeweer at Martenshoek from 1895. In the boiler house a fire-tube steam boiler from 1935. This pumping station contains the last combination of a steam engine with a screw in the Netherlands. From the point of view of industrial architecture it is important as an example of the two possibilities in steam pumping stations, namely a separate boiler and engine house (section from 1878) and engine and boiler house under a roof (section from 1895).
