KASTEEL VALKENBURG, verwoest 1672; burchtruine op de steile helling ten zuiden van de stad. Het kasteel, waarvan nog belangrijke muurgedeelten overeind staat, XIX-XV, was aan alle zijden omgeven door een omhoog klimmende versterkte weg, een z.g. dwingel waarvan aan de oostzijde resten bewaard zijn.

Description
CASTLE VALKENBURG, destroyed 1672; castle ruin on the steep slope to the south of the town. The castle, of which substantial wall sections still stand, 15th-19th century, was surrounded on all sides by a fortified road climbing upwards, a so-called dwingel of which remains are preserved on the east side.
