Statig herenhuis, lijstgevel met consoles en gebeeldhouwde deuromlijsting, XVIII.
Catharijnesteeg 4 A/B/C/D
Het betreft hier een samenstel van drie achterhuizen achter het pand Nieuwegracht 51. Dit zijn rechts een diephuis van twee bouwlagen met schilddak loodrecht op de rooilijn en kelder. Dit pand heeft de thans afgesloten gang naar het voorliggende huis. Rechts hiernaast een tweede diephuis van twee bouwlagen met schilddak en kelder. Hierachter een derde klein dwarspand van twee bouwlagen met kap met de nok evenwijdig aan de rooilijn. De beide diepe huizen zijn reeds in de 19de eeuw samengevoegd doormiddel van suite-achtige deuren in de tussenmuur. (De beschrijving is opgesteld gezien vanaf het grote binnen terrein naar de achtergevels van de huizen) Het rechter huis heeft een kelder met een graatgewelf, een moer en kinderbalklaag boven de begane grond. Deze is in de XIXB omstuct en van decoratie voorzien. De kap is vermoedelijk 17de-eeuws. De serre heeft geen monumentale waarde. Het linker huis heeft een kelder met een tongewelf, een XIX stookplaats tegen de achterwand (kachelnis verdieping) en een XIX met een kruisconstructie versterkte sporenkap. Het kleine dwarshuis heeft rechts een gepleisterde topgevel, waarin zich een oudere trapgevel aftekent. Voorts een enkelvoudige balklaag met ojief sleutelstukjes boven de begane grond. Er is een hoogte verschil tussen dit huis en de beide andere huizen.
Waardering
Het pand Catharijnesteeg 4 A/B/C/D is van algemeen belang vanwege Architectuurhistorische waarde als voorbeeld van karakteristieke achterhuisbebouwing behorende bij het pand aan de Nieuwegracht. Voorts van belang vanwege bouwhistorische waarde vanwege de vele aanwezige oudere bouwsporen met onder andere een opmerkelijke kelder met graatgewelf Stedenbouwkundige waarde vanwege de gegroeide achterhuissituatie en de duidelijk herkenbare perceelsstructuur.

This comprises a collection of three back buildings behind the building at Nieuwegracht 51. On the right a deep house of two storeys with hipped roof perpendicular to the building line and cellar. This building has the now blocked passage to the front building. To the right of this a second deep house of two storeys with hipped roof and cellar. Behind this a third small transverse building of two storeys with roof truss with ridge parallel to the building line. Both deep houses were already combined in the 19th century by means of suite-like doors in the intermediate wall. (The description is drawn up from the large inner courtyard toward the rear facades of the buildings.) The right-hand house has a cellar with a herringbone vault, a main beam and joist layer above the ground floor. This was restructured in the 19th century and provided with decoration. The roof truss is presumably 17th-century. The conservatory has no heritage value. The left-hand house has a cellar with a barrel vault, a 19th-century fireplace against the rear wall (stove niche, upper floor) and a 19th-century roof truss with cross bracing reinforcement.
