Exceptionally fine farmhouse of the Staphorst type. In 1982 restored to an earlier state for the purpose of serving as a museum farmhouse, traditional, in plan presumably older but as regards detailing 19th century, Staphorst farmhouse under thatched half-hipped roof with wooden chimney. Farmhouse of the transverse-partition type on elongated ground plan; the residential part built up in brick, the business part clad with tar-coated wooden sections and covered by a thatched half-hipped roof with wooden chimney; wattles along the gable top; rod anchors. In the front gable a door with fanlight and tree of life; beside it respectively cellar window with bars and upper-room window and two 20-pane windows and a bedroom window, two loft windows; all with shutters and 1 1/2 brick corbels or rolled courses. In the rear and side gables barn doors and stable doors and -windows. Against one of the side gables a simple carved wooden milk stand. Internally valuable original Staphorst interior with tile walls executed in white and purple with white, with flower-motif painted doors and wall panels and large wooden chimney breast or hood. Traditional, in plan presumably older, but as regards detailing 19th century, transverse-partition farmhouse of architectural historical importance on account of her -albeit in somewhat reduced form- Staphorst characteristics such as elongated ground plan, thatched half-hipped roof with wooden chimney, walls clad in wood of the business part, striking division of the front gable and valuable Staphorst interior components.
