Omschrijving
R.K.KERK en PASTORIE.
Naar ontwerp van Nicolaas Molenaar gebouwde in 1896 gewijde neogotische kruisbasiliek met 3/5 gesloten apsis en rechthoekige zijkapellen. Met leien gedekte toren. Toren met twee nissen aan iedere zijde, frontale en hoge naaldspits. Spitsboogvensters. Het terrein begrensd door een eenvoudig eind-19e-eeuws gietijzeren hek.
Karakteristiek in de lintbebouwing langs het Pekeler Hoofddiep gesitueerd en ten opzichte van de rooilijn teruggeplaatst, uit donkere baksteen opgetrokken gebouw, waarvan de plattegrond de dispositie weerspiegelt.
Het interieur is uitgevoerd in lichtere steensoorten: de bundelpijlers in helderrode steen met natuurstenen lijstkapitelen en hardstenen basementen; de ribben en gordelbogen in rode, de gewelfschelpen in gele baksteen; de muurvlakken zijn gepleisterd.
De vensters van koor en zijkapellen zijn kleurig beglaasd.
De neogotische inventaris - waaronder drie altaren in kalksteen, de preekstoel, heiligenbeelden en lichtarmaturen - uit het Utrechtse atelier Mengelberg - geheel intact.
Twee-klaviers orgel gebouwd door C.B. Adema en Zonen in 1888.

Sobere detaillering met onder andere T-vensters waarboven segmentvormige of halfronde boogvelden met siermetselwerk.

Description
ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH and RECTORY.
Built in 1896 to the design of Nicolaas Molenaar, a neogothic cruciform basilica with 3/5 closed apse and rectangular side chapels. Tower roofed with slate. Tower with two niches on each side, frontal and tall needle spire. Pointed-arch windows. The grounds bounded by a simple late-19th-century cast-iron fence.
Characteristic in the ribbon development along the Pekeler Hoofddiep, positioned set back with respect to the building line, constructed of dark brick, whose floor plan reflects the disposition.
The interior is executed in lighter stone types: the bundle pillars in bright-red stone with natural stone moulded capitals and hardstone bases; the ribs and wall arches in red, the vault shells in yellow brick; the wall surfaces are plastered.
The windows of the choir and side chapels are coloured glazed.
The neogothic furnishings - including three altars in limestone, the pulpit, holy statues and light fixtures - from the Utrecht atelier Mengelberg - completely intact.
