HAVEN MET ZEEBRUG OF HAVENPOORT. In de vestingwerken is een gedeelte van de Middeleeuwse omgrachting opgenomen als havenaanleg aan de zuidzijde van bastion OudMolen, langs Oude en Nieuwe Haven en Kooltjesbuurt, voorzien van gemetselde kademuren met trappen (uitgezonderd de gepalisseerde walkant aan de bastionzijde van de Kooltjesbuurt). In het midden van de haven een v.m. sluis, waarvan de houten puntdeuren inmiddels zijn verdwenen en waaraan een schotbalkkering is toegevoegd, overwelfd door een hoge gemetselde boogbrug - blijkens een steen vernieuwd in 1779 en 1967 - die recht tegenover de Marktstraat is gelegen en toegang geeft tot het bastion OudMolen. Deze haven heeft tussen de bastions OudMolen en Katten een verbinding met de hoofdgracht door middel van een hoge gemetselde boogbrug - in oorsprong een coupure met houten overbrugging - overwelfd in 1790 om als waterpoterne te dienen en daarom Zeebrug of Havenpoort genoemd, en in de 19e eeuw aan de grachtzijde van een schotbalkkering voorzien. Description
HARBOUR WITH SEA BRIDGE OR HARBOUR GATE. In the fortress works a section of the Medieval moat has been incorporated as a harbour installation on the south side of bastion Oud Molen, along Oude and Nieuwe Haven and Kooltjesbuurt, provided with masonry quay walls with steps (excepting the palisaded rampart on the bastion side of the Kooltjesbuurt). In the middle of the harbour a formerly masonry sluice, of which the wooden pointed gates have since disappeared and to which a shutter barrier has been added, arched over by a high masonry arch bridge - according to an inscription renewed in 1779 and 1967 - which is situated directly opposite Marktstraat and gives access to bastion Oud Molen. This harbour has between the bastions Oud Molen and Katten a connection with the main moat by means of a high masonry arch bridge - originally a coupure with wooden bridging - vaulted in 1790 to serve as a water postern and therefore called Sea Bridge or Harbour Gate, and in the 19th century provided with a shutter barrier on the moat side. Furthermore the harbour is connected via a boom gate near the former Amsterdam Gate to the main moat.
