Omschrijving
Betrekkelijk vrij in het veld gelegen, uit 1925-1926 daterend, STEENOVENCOMPLEX "de Panoven" dat, zoals de naam al zegt, werd gesticht als panoven (in 1865), doch waarvan de rond zig-zag steenoven later is toegevoegd (op den duur ter vervanging van de panoven). Industrieel-archeologisch complex, bestaande uit een steenovengebouw en meerdere haaghuizen of droogloodsen waarvan, om economische redenen, alleen het haaghuis naast het ovengebouw is beschermd.
Het van 1925-1926 daterende zig-zag steenovengebouw bestaat uit een massieve stenen onderbouw, waarvan een twintigtal zig-zag-gewijs met elkaar verbonden, halfrond overwelfde, steenkamers zijn uitgespaard, die zijn gegroepeerd rond een centrale gemetselde schoorsteen; een vierentwintigtal grote, op poeren staande en van fundament tot nok doorlopende, houten spanten ondersteunt het even overstekende zeszijdige tentdak, dat het complex een enigszins ovaalvormig aanzien geeft.
Een lange houten loopbrug leidt, ten behoeve van de kolenvoorziening, op naar de stookzolder; een dubbele houten deur in het dakvlak verleent toegang tot de zolder, alwaar enkele "Anco"-stookapparaten.
Terzijde van de steenoven een haaghuis of droogloods op rechthoekige plattegrond, bestaande uit een houten draagconstructie zonder wanden en gedekt door een met pannen belegd zadeldak; de geveltoppen met hout beschoten; in het goed ventilerende bouwwerk bevinden zich de droogrekken waarin de nog te bakken stenen worden voorgedroogd.
Steenovencomplex, daterend van 1925-1926, bestaande uit ronde zig-zag oven met een twintigtal droogkamers, schoorsteen en enkele "Anco"-stookapparaten en een haaghuis of droogloods, van belang zowel vanwege de herinnering aan de tot in de 15e eeuw teruggaande steen- en pannenbakkerij in Zevenaar en omgeving, als vanwege het feit dat de ronde zig-zag oven de laatste is in zijn soort in Nederland.

Description
Relatively freely situated in the field, dating from 1925-1926, BRICK OVEN COMPLEX "de Panoven" which, as the name suggests, was founded as tile kilns (in 1865), but to which the subsequent round zig-zag brick oven was later added (eventually to replace the tile kilns). Industrial-archaeological complex, consisting of a brick oven building and several drying sheds or hay sheds of which, for economic reasons, only the hay shed next to the oven building is protected.
The zig-zag brick oven building dating from 1925-1926 consists of a massive stone substructure, from which some twenty zig-zag-wise interconnected, semi-cylindrical vaulted, brick chambers are cut out, grouped around a central masonry chimney; twenty-four large, standing on posts and running from foundation to roof ridge, wooden roof trusses support an equally overhanging six-sided tent roof, giving the complex a somewhat oval appearance.
A long wooden walkway leads, for the purpose of coal supply, up to the firing floor; a double wooden door in the roof plane provides access to the floor, where some "Anco"-firing apparatus.
Alongside the brick oven a hay shed or drying shed on rectangular plan, consisting of a wooden load-bearing structure without walls and covered by a gabled roof with tile covering; the gable tops boarded with wood; in the well-ventilating structure are the drying racks in which the still-to-be-fired bricks are pre-dried.
Brick oven complex, dating from 1925-1926, consisting of round zig-zag oven with some twenty drying chambers, chimney and some "Anco"-firing apparatus and a hay shed or drying shed, of significance both because of the memory of brick and tile making in Zevenaar and surroundings going back to the 15th century, and because of the fact that the round zig-zag oven is the last of its kind in the Netherlands.
