Description

Reformed CHURCH. Fine, brick-constructed late Gothic village church, attractively situated on a raised churchyard with tree planting. Tower: lower part circa 1300, bell storey with pointed arch recesses and entrance section first half 16th century. Nave first half 16th century with older north aisle (second half 15th century ?), both now straight closed but originally provided with polygonal apses. The nave was extensively remodelled first half 17th century, from which time the Tuscan columns date, which separate the aisles. Wooden barrel vaults. Good furnishings: pulpit (1625), aldermen's bench (1631), gentlemen's bench (first half 18th century) and some benches (17th century). Commandments board, circa 1700; two copper light crowns (ca. 1700?) white marble epitaph for Jacob de Brauw by J. Blommendael 1684; baptistry gate (first half 18th century). The Church was restored 1928-1929. At the North end, beside no. 4/6 two hardstone gate pillars with wrought iron railing (first half 19th century).
