Monumentale westtoren van de Grote of Sr. Janskerk, 15e eeuw. De uit vier geledingen samengestelde bakstenen torenromp heeft geen steunberen en in elke verdieping drie getraceerde ribben in ieder gevelvlak. De ijzeren spits en borstwering met kantelen dateren van een restauratie uit de jaren 1932-'34. Klokkenspel met 13 klokken van A.J. van den Ghein, 1786, 1 klok van Noorden&De Grave, 1710 en 25 moderne klokken. In de toren een aantal buiten gebruik gestelde klokken van A.J. van den Ghein, 1786. Klokkenstoel met klok van W. en Jasper Moer, 1519, diam. 168 cm en een klok van W. Sloterdiic en S. Butendiic, 1455, diam 144 cm en een klok van C. Noorden en J.A. de Grave, 1710, diam. 112 cm. Mechanisch smeedijzeren torenuurwerk, 18de eeuw, later voorzien van elektrische opwinding. Trommelspeelwerk van J. Steigerwald uit 1838.

Description
Monumental west tower of the Great or St. John's Church, 15th century. The brick tower shaft composed of four storeys has no buttresses and in each storey three traced ribs in each facade plane. The iron spire and battlement with crenellations date from a restoration in the years 1932-'34. Carillon with 13 bells by A.J. van den Ghein, 1786, 1 bell by Noorden&De Grave, 1710 and 25 modern bells. In the tower a number of disused bells by A.J. van den Ghein, 1786. Bell frame with bell by W. and Jasper Moer, 1519, diam. 168 cm and a bell by W. Sloterdiic and S. Butendiic, 1455, diam. 144 cm and a bell by C. Noorden and J.A. de Grave, 1710, diam. 112 cm. Mechanical wrought-iron tower clockwork, 18th century, later provided with electric winding. Barrel-playing mechanism by J. Steigerwald from 1838.
