Omschrijving
Rooms-Katholieke KERK van St. Petrus'Banden. Opvolgster van een in 1462 door brand verwoest kerkgebouw dat na de stichting van het kapittel begin XVIII verrezen was.
In 1503 werd nog aan de huidige kerk gebouwd.
Grootscheepse laat-gotische kruisbasiliek, rijk voortbrengsel van de Kempische gotiek; in baksteen met veelvuldige toepassing van natuursteen, met kooromgang en straalkapellen (volgens hetzelfde systeem als in Gheel, dat in die tijd evenals Oirschot de Merodes tot heer had), imposante westtoren.
Gewelven in hoofdbeuk van schip en koor of nooit aangebracht of in 1558, toen de torenspits instortte, vernield; 1662 nieuwe gewelven aangebracht. 1629-1800 Hervormd.
Kerk in 1887 gerestaureerd door L.C. Hezemans.
Van de toren in 1904 de zuidwesthoek ingestort (afbraak verwerkt aan de kapel van Onze Lieve Vrouwe van de H. Eik in Spoordonk), waarna van 1906-'12 restauratie door P. Cuypers.
Zware oorlogsschade in 1944 (koorbanken van Jan Borchmans te Eindhoven uit 1508-'11 geheel vernietigd). Gerestaureerd 1946-'58, bovenste torenvierkant thans voltooid.
Inventaris: zwart marmeren zerk van Richard van Merode (plm 1552) oorspronkelijk rustend op de vier leeuwen die thans de doopvont dragen. Drietal barokke altaren (hoogaltaar plm 1700, zij-altaren 1766), afkomstig uit Panningen, grote barokke eikehouten preekstoel afkomstig uit Zeelst (plm.1843) vervaardigd door atelier A.I.Rutten; twee gesneden neo-gotische altaren; enkele barokke beelden; een houten beeld van st. Odulphus (plm. 1780); geschilderde kruisweg (plm. 1830) afkomstig uit de kerk van Weerselo; 15e-eeuws kruisbeeld; een drietal biechtstoelen in Lod. XVI stijl met barokke elementen (verm. XIX A) vervaardigd door Jan van der Marck; Orgel met Hoofdwerk, Bovenwerk, Rugwerk en vrij Pedaal, in 1846 gemaakt door F.C. Smits voor de St. Pieterskerk te 's-Hertogenbosch. Description
Roman Catholic CHURCH of St. Petrus' Bonds. Successor to a church building destroyed by fire in 1462 which, after the establishment of the chapter in the early 18th century, arose anew.
Building continued on the present church in 1503.
Grandly-scaled late-Gothic cruciform basilica, rich product of Kempen Gothic; in brick with frequent use of natural stone, with choir ambulatory and radiating chapels (according to the same system as in Gheel, which at that time, like Oirschot, had the Merodes as lord), imposing west tower.
Vaults in the main aisle of nave and choir were either never installed or destroyed in 1558, when the tower spire collapsed; new vaults installed in 1662. 1629-1800 Reformed.
Church restored in 1887 by L.C. Hezemans.
Of the tower in 1904 the southwest corner collapsed (demolition materials incorporated into the chapel of Our Lady of the Holy Oak in Spoordonk), whereupon restoration by P. Cuypers from 1906-'12.

Rutten; two carved neo-Gothic altars; some Baroque figures; a wooden statue of st. Odulphus (c. 1780); painted Stations of the Cross (c. 1830) from the church of Weerselo; 15th-century crucifix; three confessionals in Louis XVI style with Baroque elements (presumed 19th century first half) made by Jan van der Marck; Organ with Great, Swell, Choir and free Pedal, made in 1846 by F.C. Smits for the St. Pieterskerk in 's-Hertogenbosch. In 1978 restored and relocated to Oirschot. Mechanical tower clock, electric winding.
