Omschrijving
STADHUIS.
In 1554-'55 door de stadsbouwmeester Herman van Herengrave voor een ouder raadhuis opgetrokken rechthoekige vleugel met verdieping en zadeldak tussen trapgevels. Gerestaureerd en aan de westzijde in dezelfde trant uitgebreid in 1879-'82 door P.J.H. Cuypers. Uitgebrand in 1944 en vervolgens in 1947-'53 gerestaureerd door Ir G.J. Deur, waarbij de westelijke aanbouw van Cuypers vervangen werd door een vleugel in moderne stijl en tevens een bakstenen toren met ui-vormige bekroning verrees.
De bakstenen gevels aan de Burchtstraat en de Nieuwstraat hebben vensters met natuurstenen kruiskozijnen, bekroond door frontons met koppen, welke, evenals de beelden tussen de benedenvensters en de medaillons met allegorische reliefs in de attiek kopieën, zijn naar het door P.J.H. Cuypers gecopieerde oorspronkelijke beeldhouwwerk door Mr Cornelis Sass van Utrecht. Gesneden deur in renaissance-omlijsting van Gaert van Dulcken. Bekleding van de plint en bordes van natuursteen. In de bij de restauratie omstreeks 1950 opgetrokken toren een fries van bakstenen spitsbogen met driepasvullingen, afkomstig van de na oorlogsverwoesting afgebroken Broerskerk, 14e eeuw.

TOWN HALL.
In 1554-'55 erected by the city master builder Herman van Herengrave for an older council house, a rectangular wing with storey and gabled roof between stepped gables. Restored and extended on the west side in the same manner in 1879-'82 by P.J.H. Cuypers. Burned out in 1944 and subsequently restored in 1947-'53 by Ir G.J. Deur, whereby the western extension by Cuypers was replaced by a wing in modern style and at the same time a brick tower with onion-shaped crowning was erected.
The brick facades on the Burchtstraat and the Nieuwstraat have windows with natural stone cross windows, crowned by pediments with heads, which, as well as the sculptures between the ground-floor windows and the medallions with allegorical reliefs in the attic are copies after the original sculptural work by Mr Cornelis Sass van Utrecht copied by P.J.H.
