Omschrijving
Landgoed Aalbeek. Neo-classicistische vleugel (koetshuis) van het voormalige LANDHUIS Aalbeek, daterend uit de eerste helft van de negentiende eeuw. Het huis zelf en een lage tuinvleugel werden gesloopt ten behoeve van de uitbreiding van het sinds 1879 in het landhuis gevestigde Jezuïten klooster, respectievelijk in 1896 en 1911. De vleugel diende tot de opheffing van het klooster als kapel. Langgerekt rechthoekig gebouw, voorzien van een verdieping en een schilddak. De rechter zijgevel staat schuin op de plattegrond en loopt parallel aan de weg naar Meerssen. In de achtergevel een oorspronkelijke met mergel dichtgemetselde, brede rondbogige toegang. De zeven traveeën brede voorgevel wordt geaccentueerd door een drie traveeën brede middenrisaliet, bekroond door een fronton, dat evenals de daklijst van mergel is. De driedeling op de verdieping wordt gemarkeerd door verkropte dorische pilasters. De begane grond is bekleed met hardsteen in blokverband en in het midden voorzien van drie poortdeuren en terzijden van telkens twee rechthoekige vensters. De verdieping bezit rondbogige, van geprofileerde vooruitspringende archivolten voorziene vensters, waarvan de hardstenen onderdorpels rusten op consoles. Tuinmuur met speklagen en overblijfsel van absis vormige grot met geprofileerde omlijsting. Aan de overzijde van de provinciale weg naar Meerssen twee mergelstenen door vazen bekroonde hekpijlers: eerste helft negentiende eeuw. Van belang vanwege de architectuur en vanwege de geschiedenis van het voormalige landhuis Aalbeek. Description
Estate Aalbeek. Neo-classical wing (coach house) of the former COUNTRY HOUSE Aalbeek, dating from the first half of the nineteenth century. The house itself and a low garden wing were demolished for the expansion of the Jesuit monastery established in the country house since 1879, in 1896 and 1911 respectively. The wing served as a chapel until the closure of the monastery. Elongated rectangular building, furnished with one storey and a hipped roof. The right side gable is at an angle to the plan and runs parallel to the road to Meerssen. In the rear gable an original broadly round-arched entrance, bricked up with marl. The front gable, seven bays wide, is accentuated by a central risalit three bays wide, crowned by a pediment, which like the eaves is of marl. The tripartite division on the storey is marked by corbelled Doric pilasters. The ground floor is faced with hardstone in block bond and in the middle furnished with three gateway doors and on either side two rectangular windows. The storey has round-arched windows furnished with profiled projecting archivolts, the hardstone sills of which rest on consoles.
