ARRONDISSEMENTSRECHTBANK. In 1765 gebouwd als herenhuis op de plaats, waar vroeger de Duitse orde een commanderij bezat (een gevelsteen in de zijgevel herinnert hieraan). In 1838 in gebruik genomen als gerechtshof, sinds 1876 arrondissementsrechtbank. Hoofdgebouw met twee vleugels aan het Hofplein gelegen. De boogvormige façade van geslepen baksteen, met onderdelen van Bremersteen. Hardstenen omlijsting van de ingang en het middenraam. Driehoekig fronton boven de middenpartij van de gevel. Gesmeed ijzeren raamhekken en dakvensters met roedenverdeling in de vorm van een rad. Hardstenen stoepbordes en idem lantaarnpalen. Inwendig: Audiëntiezaal; gesneden deuren in Lodewijk XV trant, twee dessus-de-portes, stucplafond Lodewijk XV en schoorsteenomlijsting. Voor deze zaal vervaardigde wandtapijten door Leyniers te Brussel (1765). Raadkamer: schoorsteenomlijsting en grisaille met wapen, vierde kwart achttiende eeuw. DISTRICT COURT. Built in 1765 as a mansion on the site where the German Order formerly had a commandery (a facade stone in the side wall commemorates this). Taken into use in 1838 as a courthouse, since 1876 a district court. Main building with two wings located at the Hofplein. The arched façade of dressed brick, with components of Bremer stone. Sandstone surround of the entrance and the central window. Triangular pediment above the central part of the facade. Wrought iron window grilles and roof windows with glazing bars in the form of a wheel. Sandstone door steps and similarly sandstone lamp posts. Interior: Audience Hall; carved doors in Louis XV style, two overdoor paintings, Louis XV stucco ceiling and chimneypiece surround. Tapestries for this hall made by Leyniers in Brussels (1765). Counsel Chamber: chimneypiece surround and grisaille with coat of arms, fourth quarter eighteenth century. Wine Cellar: painted wallpaper in the manner of A. Schouman. Above the door alliance coat of arms of J.A. van de Perre and J. van den Brande, fourth quarter eighteenth century. On the upper storey: President's Chamber: carved door and overdoor painting, fireplace with grisaille, possibly by P. Gaal, fourth quarter eighteenth century. Clerk Substitute Chamber: fireplace with stucco and overdoor painting, third quarter eighteenth century. Prosecutor's Office: wooden panelling and marble chimneypiece surround with grisaille by D. van der Aa, 1770. Deputy Prosecutor's Office: moulding, chimneypiece mantel with mirror, second-third quarter eighteenth century, three overdoor paintings in grisaille. Judge-Commissioner Chamber: simple fireplace with small painting, fourth quarter eighteenth century. Library: Oak library panelling with urns and oak panelled ceiling, fourth quarter eighteenth century. Trainee Lawyer Chamber: two fireplace paintings and overdoor painting, fourth quarter eighteenth century. Waiting Room: fireplace with grisaille, fourth quarter eighteenth century.
