Omschrijving
Restanten van de in 1705 als eerste buiten Amsterdam gebouwde synagoge; de synagoge was een bouwlaag hoog en gedekt door een schilddak; aan de achterzijde van het gebouw bevond zich een aparte badruimte.
De restanten bestaan uit: de muren van de synagoge, te weten de voorgevel met twee rondboogvensters (een venster nog voorzien van de roedeverdeling, het andere slechts in omtrek bewaard), waartussen een hoger geplaatste oculus; de achtergevel met de nis voor de arke en de oculus erboven, en het metselwerk onder en naast twee vensters, identiek aan die van de voorgevel; de linkerzijgevel (tegen een tuinmuur geplaatst) en de gemene rechterzijmuur; de restanten van de vier basementen van de zuilen onder de v.m. vrouwengalerij, en de met keitjes uitgevoerde Davidster in de vloer van de synagoge-zaal.
Van de v.m. badruimte resteren: twee haaks geplaatste gedeelten muurwerk, gelegen aan het steegje vanaf de Heerenstraat, alsmede twee daartegenover gelegen gemene muren; bovendien het gemetselde en gepleisterde bassin met opstaande rand en twee hardstenen treden; voorts een gedeelte van de gele tegelvloer met zwarte rand.
Een poortje, ingebouwd in het pand Heerenstraat 16/18, toegang gevend vanaf die straat tot de synagoge en de badruimte; op het poortje de tekst: Beit-Hakenesset en daaronder bshnt THLL lpk.
Poortje, synagoge en badruimte zijn van cultuurhistorisch belang en oudheidkundige waarde.

Description
Remains of the synagogue built in 1705 as the first outside Amsterdam; the synagogue was one storey high and covered by a hipped roof; at the rear of the building there was a separate bathing room.
The remains consist of: the walls of the synagogue, namely the front facade with two round-arch windows (one window still provided with glazing bars, the other preserved only in outline), between which is a higher-placed oculus; the rear facade with the niche for the ark and the oculus above it, and the brickwork below and beside two windows, identical to those of the front facade; the left side facade (placed against a garden wall) and the shared right side wall; the remains of the four bases of the columns under the former women's gallery, and the Star of David executed with pebbles in the floor of the synagogue hall.
Of the former bathing room remain: two perpendicularly placed sections of wall, located on the alleyway from Heerenstraat, as well as two opposite shared walls; furthermore the mortared and plastered basin with raised rim and two bluestone steps; furthermore a section of the yellow tile floor with black border.
A small gate, built into the building Heerenstraat 16/18, providing access from that street to the synagogue and bathing room; on the gate the text: Beit-Hakenesset and below bshnt THLL lpk.
The gate, synagogue and bathing room are of cultural-historical importance and archaeological value.
