Omschrijving
HELPOORT, Maakt deel uit van de eerste ommuring van na 1229. Opgetrokken uit kolenzandsteen, gerestaureerd in 1881. De stadsmuur loopt van deze poort af oostwaarts tot aan een in 1911 op oude grondslagen herbouwde hoektoren en vandaar noordwaarts langs de O.L. Vrouwewal. Westwaarts loopt de oude stadsmuur vanaf dit poortgebouw door in de richting van het Langgrachtje.

Description
HELPOORT. Forms part of the first fortification from after 1229. Constructed of carboniferous sandstone, restored in 1881. The town wall runs eastward from this gate to a corner tower rebuilt in 1911 on old foundations and from there northward along the O.L. Vrouwewal. Westward the old town wall continues from this gate building in the direction of the Langgrachtje.
