Omschrijving
STADHUIS. Groot vierkant gebouw met gevels van hardsteen, in de trant van het 17e eeuwse Hollandse classicisme. Opgetrokken van 1659-1664 naar ontwerp van Pieter Post. Toren voltooid in 1684. Aan de voorkant een monumentale uitspringende portiek met trappen. Rijk interieur met o.a. stucwerk van Vasolli, schilderingen Th. van der Stuer en J.B. Coelers, stucwerk van Gagini en goudleerbehang. Gaslantaarns op de hoeken. Klokkenspel, bestaande uit 1 klok van Francois Hemony, 1663; 1 klok Francois en Pieter Hemony, 1664; 10 klokken Francois Hemony 1664; 5 klokken, niet door Hemony gesigneerd, anno 1664 en 32 moderne klokken.

TOWN HALL. Large square building with ashlar facades, in the manner of 17th century Dutch classicism. Erected 1659-1664 after a design by Pieter Post. Tower completed in 1684. At the front a monumental projecting portico with steps. Rich interior including stucco-work by Vasolli, paintings by Th. van der Stuer and J.B. Coelers, stucco-work by Gagini and gilt leather wallpaper. Gas lamps on the corners. Carillon consisting of 1 bell by Francois Hemony, 1663; 1 bell by Francois and Pieter Hemony, 1664; 10 bells by Francois Hemony, 1664; 5 bells, not signed by Hemony, anno 1664 and 32 modern bells.
