Omschrijving
Ir. D.F. Woudagemaal te Tacozijl.
Zeer groot stoomgemaal, naar plannen van Ir. D.F. Wouda uit 1913 gebouwd in 1917-1918. Machinepark ontworpen door Prof. Ir. Dijkshoorn in samenwerking met de fabrikant.
Het gemaal bestaat uit een terrein- en wateraanleg. De wateraanleg bestaat uit het Stroomkanaal, inlaatkom en een uitlaatkom aan de zijde van het IJsselmeer. De landaanleg bestaat uit de dijk ten westen van het Stroomkanaal met klinker oprijweg, kaden waaronder kolenloskade, vleugelmuren en kadehekwerken aan beide zijden van de machinehal.
Een machinehuis, een ketelhuis en haaks daarop een open kolenopslag, een gemetselde schoorsteen en ondergrondse rookgas- en stoomkanalen. Machinehuis in monumentale vormgeving herinnerend aan de Beursperiode van Berlage.
De Machinehal heeft een ziende bekapping van hout en stalen spanten. De bouwkundig in het gemaal opgenomen waterkeringswerken (vier stel vloeddeuren aan de zijde van de v.m. Zuiderzee) versterken het monumentale karakter van het geheel.
Evenwichtig kleurgebruik in de machinehal: contrastwerking tussen de licht gekleurde baksteen, de zwartgrijze stoommachines, de grijze centrifugaalpompen en het koperwerk aan de machines. Inventaris: in de machinehal vier tandem-compund stoommachines, elk van ca. 500 pk, ontworpen en uitgevoerd door de machinefabriek Louis Smulders/Jaffa te Utrecht in 1919. Elke stoommachine drijft twee centrifugaalpompen (Jaffa, 1920) aan. In de kelder o.a. twee elk door een kleine stoommachine aangedreven, condensor-units (Jaffa, 1920). In het ketelhuis vier Werkspoorvuurgangvlampijpketels, die de oorspronkelijk zes ketels vervangen.
In de machinehal tafeltjes met setjes koperen smeerkannen en oliespuiten.
Architectonisch belangrijk, zeer fraai en goed bewaard voorbeeld van een groot stoomgemaal uit de slotfase van het Nederlandse stoomgemaal. De stoommachines zijn unieke voorbeelden van de uitermate geperfectioneerde ingenieursproducten uit de eindperiode van het stoomtijdperk. De machinehal geeft een goed voorbeeld van de inmiddels vrijwel geheel verdwenen interieurs op dit gebied.

Very large steam pumping station, built in 1917-1918 according to plans by Ir. D.F. Wouda from 1913. Machinery designed by Prof. Ir. Dijkshoorn in collaboration with the manufacturer.
The pumping station consists of a land and water installation. The water installation consists of the Flow Canal, intake basin and a discharge basin on the IJsselmeer side. The land installation consists of the dike west of the Flow Canal with clinker access road, quays including coal-unloading quay, wing walls and quay railings on both sides of the machinery hall.
A machine house, a boiler house and perpendicular to it an open coal storage, a brick chimney and underground flue gas and steam channels. Machine house in monumental design reminiscent of Berlage's Stock Exchange period.
The Machinery Hall has a pitched roof covering of wood and steel trusses. The water-defense structures incorporated in the pumping station (four sets of flood gates on the side of the former Zuiderzee) enhance the monumental character of the whole.
Balanced colour scheme in the machinery hall: contrast between the lightly coloured brick, the black-grey steam engines, the grey centrifugal pumps and the copper work on the machines. Inventory: in the machinery hall four tandem-compound steam engines, each of approximately 500 hp, designed and executed by the machine factory Louis Smulders/Jaffa in Utrecht in 1919. Each steam engine drives two centrifugal pumps (Jaffa, 1920). In the basement among others two condenser units (Jaffa, 1920), each driven by a small steam engine. In the boiler house four Werkspoor flame-tube boilers, which replace the original six boilers.
In the machinery hall small tables with sets of brass oil cans and oil guns.
Architecturally important, very fine and well-preserved example of a large steam pumping station from the final phase of the Dutch steam pumping station. The steam engines are unique examples of the extremely perfected engineering products from the final period of the steam age. The machinery hall provides a good example of the by now almost entirely disappeared interiors in this field.
