Omschrijving
1.PAND met lijstgevel, 18e eeuw. Fraai dak, 2e verdieping met oorspronkelijke Empire-ramen. De stedenbouwkundige betekenis ontleend het café aan de beeldbepalende ligging op de hoek van de Hooigracht en Groenesteeg.
2. PUI EN INTERIEUR van CAFÉ. Zowel de pui als het café-interieur zijn in de laatste decennia van de negentiende eeuw ontworpen in de Overgangsstijl. In de jaren twintig van de twintigste eeuw zijn op de begane grond en eerste verdieping glas-in-lood bovenlichten toegevoegd. Het café werd aan het eind van de negentiende eeuw en in het begin van de twintigste eeuw gebruikt om lonen uit te betalen. Het pand staat op de hoek van de Hooigracht en de Groenesteeg, binnen het beschermd stadsgezicht. De pui beslaat naast de voorgevel ook één vensteras in de zijgevel.
Omschrijving
In de voorgevel van het café bevindt zich een dubbele paneeldeur tussen twee vensters met dubbele glas-in-lood bovenlichten. In de zijgevel één venster met een dubbel bovenlicht. De pui is in de hoogte opgebouwd uit een gepleisterde plint, vensters en een overstekende kroonlijst. Tussen de vensters vier houten cassettes boven elkaar op de muurdammen. Tussen de panelen en vensters gietijzeren zuiltjes met bladkapitelen op piedestals. Abstracte bas-reliëfs in de plint onder de cassettes. Een glas-in-lood bovenlicht boven de dubbele deur. In het café zijn onder meer betimmeringen, een podium met zuiltjes en een bar bewaard gebleven.
Waardering
Het café is van algemeen cultuurhistorisch belang vanwege de oorspronkelijke extra functie van het café als uitbetalingsplaats van lonen. Architectuurhistorisch is het café van algemeen belang vanwege de Overgangsstijl en het bijzondere materiaalgebruik in de pui. De pui en delen van het interieur zijn gaaf.

Between the panels and windows cast-iron small columns with leaf capitals on pedestals. Abstract bas-reliefs in the plinth below the cassettes. A stained-glass fanlight above the double door. In the café are preserved amongst others panelling, a platform with small columns and a bar.

The café is of general cultural-historical importance because of the original additional function of the café as a place to pay out wages. Architecturally the café is of general importance because of the Transitional style and the particular use of materials in the shop front. The shop front and parts of the interior are intact.
