Omschrijving
1. PAND met gevel met rechte kroonlijst en pilasters. Gevel vormt een geheel met nr 44. (monumentnummer 24916). 1e helft 17e eeuw.en maakt deel uit van een gesloten gevelwand. Het pand heeft ensemblewaarde als een karakteristiek onderdeel van een gesloten gevelwand in het beschermde stadsgezicht.
2. WINKELPUI
Inleiding
De winkelpui is omstreeks 1885 geplaatst in de gevel van dit zeventiende eeuwse, waarschijnlijk als woonhuis gebouwde pand. Het betreft een voor de bouwtijd typerende, rijk gedetailleerde pui met de kenmerken van het Eclecticisme en het representatieve karakter van de negentiende eeuwse winkelarchitectuur.
Omschrijving
Hoge, symmetrische, in hout opgetrokken winkelpui boven een natuurstenen plint. Deels gebouchardeerde hardstenen plint met profiel en risalerende eindstukken, die fungeren als aanzet voor de pilasters. Gecanneleerde hoekpilasters met cartouches met rolwerk in de onderste geleding. De eveneens gecanneleerde pilasters aan weerszijden van de deur voorzien van spaarveldjes. Pilasterbekroningen in de vorm van composietkapiteeltjes. Diepliggende tweeruits etalagevensters met geprofileerde kozijnen. Bovenzijde van de bovenramen en het bovenlicht van de deur in de vorm van een gedrukte keperboog met sluitstukjes en voluten in de bovenhoeken. De zwikken tussen de keperboog en de getordeerde onderkant van de sterk geprofileerde kroonlijsten zijn ingevuld met ijzeren krullen. Kroonlijst met schelpmotieven en kuifjes boven het midden van de vensters en consoles met festoenen boven de kapitelen. Onder de verkropte bovenrand van de kroonlijst een eierlijst. Pilasters bekroond door gebogen frontons met rozet. Entree met oorspronkelijke negentiende eeuwse deur onder een geprofileerd kalf met huisnummer 42 tussen een schelpdecoratie en een convexe welving. Vorm en omlijsting van bovenlicht vergelijkbaar met die van de etalageramen maar met een sterkere - onder een kuifje liggende- knik in de keperboog. Bekroning boven het entablement in de vorm van een gebogen fronton met in de boogtrommel een invulling van barokke, florale decoraties en een heraldisch schild met twee gekruiste sleutels (stadswapen van Leiden). Deur met profiellijst rondom het deurvenster, snijwerk met rozet aan de onderkant van de deur en een aedicula-achtige versiering met eierlijst en driehoekig fronton aan de bovenkant. Driehoekige diamantkoppen in de zwikken boven dit fronton. Van het oorspronkelijke winkelinterieur is alleen een stucversiering aan het plafond bewaard gebleven.
Waardering
De winkelpui heeft algemene cultuurhistorische waarde als een goed voorbeeld van een ontwikkelingsfase in de winkelarchitectuur. Het is van algemeen architectuurhistorische belang als een rijk gedetailleerd, vrijwel gaaf specimen van negentiende eeuwse winkelarchitectuur met de specifieke stylistische kenmerken van de tijd waarin het is gebouwd.
De pui is bovendien van belang vanwege de herkenbaarheid en de gaafheid.

Introduction
The shop front was installed around 1885 in the facade of this seventeenth-century building, presumably built as a dwelling. It is a richly detailed shop front typical for the construction period with the characteristics of Eclecticism and the representative character of nineteenth-century shop architecture.
Description
High, symmetrical shop front constructed in wood above a natural stone plinth. Partly bush-hammered hardstone plinth with profile and projecting end pieces that serve as the start for the pilasters. Fluted corner pilasters with cartouches with scrollwork in the lower section. The likewise fluted pilasters on either side of the door provided with spandrels. Pilaster capitals in the form of composite capitals. Deeply recessed two-light display windows with profiled frames. Top of the upper windows and the fanlight of the door in the form of a depressed basket-arch with keystone and volutes in the upper corners. The spandrels between the basket-arch and the twisted underside of the strongly profiled cornices are filled with iron scrolls. Cornice with shell motifs and crockets above the middle of the windows and consoles with festoons above the capitals. Below the projecting upper edge of the cornice an ovolo moulding. Pilasters crowned by curved pediments with rosette. Entrance with original nineteenth-century door under a profiled soffit with house number 42 between shell decoration and a convex moulding. Form and framing of fanlight comparable to those of the display windows but with a stronger - beneath a crocket - bend in the basket-arch. Crowning above the entablature in the form of a curved pediment with in the arch soffit a filling of Baroque, floral decorations and a heraldic shield with two crossed keys (coat of arms of Leiden). Door with moulding outline around the door panel, carving with rosette at the bottom of the door and an aedicula-like decoration with ovolo moulding and triangular pediment at the top. Triangular diamond points in the spandrels above this pediment. Of the original shop interior only a stucco decoration on the ceiling has been preserved.
Valuation
The shop front has general cultural-historical value as a good example of a development phase in shop architecture. It is of general architectural-historical importance as a richly detailed, virtually intact specimen of nineteenth-century shop architecture with the specific stylistic characteristics of the time in which it was built.
The shop front is moreover important because of the recognisability and intactness.
