Description

DWELLING HOUSE with three storeys high, five bays wide facade on the Gerecht with part of older house and older rear building. Ground floor of the facade with central entry at the end of the eighteenth century brought into the present main forms with incorporation of parts of older brickwork; storeys in adjoining nineteenth-century style. Stoep with bollards; cross windows in all storeys; straight cornice. Internally on the left the oldest section: six stucco fields with rod and flower decorations, Louis XVI style, between the plastered timber posts of a presumed seventeenth-century structure. Late eighteenth-century fitting of the corridor: remarkable pattern of white marble tiles inlaid between black Namur stone, skirting boards, details, door surrounds and stucco ceiling. Fine oak staircase climbing around oval stairwell with very finely carved Louis XVI setting baluster (repeated in relief at the wall side) and oval turned balusters. Large late seventeenth- or early eighteenth-century rear building with on the ground floor in the nineteenth century a large rear room built out into the garden. Simple beam layers with bead moulding and roof truss structure of the rear building from the building period; upper storey of the front house, late nineteenth-century. Remodelled in 1992 whereby the large rear room was subdivided into a number of rooms.
