Omschrijving
Centraal Apotheek, gebouwd in 1904/1905 in art-nouveau-vormen naar ontwerp van architect G.B.Broekema te Kampen.
Gebouw op trapeziumvormige plattegrond, opgetrokken uit gele verblendsteen en rood-bruine steen, en gedekt door een met leien belegd afgeknot schilddak tegen trapgevel aan een der zijden. Verlevendiging van het metselwerk door onder meer: hardstenen lijsten, blokken, onder- en bovendorpels, boogtrommels inlegwerk, uitkragend siermetselwerk en dierfiguren.
Ingangspartij aan Voorstreekzijde gevat in een met art-nouveau-motieven bewerkte korfbogige hardstenen omlijsting; de verdiepingslagen uitgerust met smeedijzeren balkonhekken in art-nouveau-vormen, rechtgesloten en rondboogvensters, polychroom tegeltableau met vrouwenfiguur met slang en gifbeker - eveneens in art-nouveau-vormen- en dito tableau met opschrift: CENTRAAL APOTHEEK; hoek Voorstreek/Tuinen benadrukt door uitkragende erker, bekroond door overhuiving onder leiengedekt helmdak met naald.

Description
Centraal Apotheek, built in 1904/1905 in art-nouveau forms to the design of architect G.B. Broekema of Kampen.
Building on a trapezoidal plan, constructed of yellow facing brick and red-brown brick, and covered by a truncated hipped roof tiled with slate against a stepped gable on one of its sides. Enlivening of the brickwork by among other things: ashlar courses, blocks, under- and overdoors, arch drums, inlay work, projecting ornamental brickwork and animal figures.
Entrance section on the Voorstreek side set in a basket-arch ashlar surround worked with art-nouveau motifs; the storeys fitted with wrought-iron balcony railings in art-nouveau forms, straight-closed and round-arch windows, polychrome tile panel with female figure with serpent and poison cup - likewise in art-nouveau forms - and likewise panel with inscription: CENTRAAL APOTHEEK; corner Voorstreek/Tuinen emphasised by projecting bay, crowned by an overhang under slate-covered helm roof with spire.
