Omschrijving
R.K. KERK H. Willibrordus. Laatgotische geheel met kruisribgewelven overdekte KRUISBASILIEK met op de kruising een oudere toren. Het geheel met ledesteen beklede gebouw vormt een prachtig voorbeeld van een kleine stadsbasiliek in rijpe Brabantse stijl. De toren kan, voor wat de onderbouw betreft, nog uit de 14e eeuw dateren; de kerk zelf werd gebouwd in de tweede helft van de 15e en de eerste helft van de 16e eeuw. Inwendig: rijkgesneden preekstoel plm 1800. Van oorsprong eenklaviers orgel in 1610 gemaakt door L. Isore. Orgelkas met geschilderde deuren. In 1971 gereconstrueerd en uitgebreid met een onder-positief en vrij Pedaal. In de drie straalkapellen van de kooromgang drie glas-in- lood vensters met voorstellingen van Willebrord (1902), Maria, Christus (gesigneerd 'Jul Dobbelaere Brugge', 1901). In de noordmuur van het koor venster met Mariavoorstelling ('Rosa Mystica'). In de zuidmuur van het koor glas met tekst 'Gaat tot Jozef', gesigneerd 'Mengelberg Utrecht' en 'd d Jos Seydlitz'. Aansluitend kapel met voorstelling van de Heilige Familie (1868-1893) en twaalf heiligen. Glas in lichtbeuk van koorsluiting met drie scenes uit het Lijdensverhaal. Venster in westgevel met Laatste Oordeel, gesigneerd 'Joep Nicolas 1933'. De glasvensters vormen waardevolle kunst- en cultuurhistorische onderdelen van de basiliek. Klokkenstoel met gelui bestaande uit een klok van W. Wegewaert, 1563, diam. 156 cm en een klok van Pieter Hemony, 1669, diam. 66 cm. Mechanisch torenuurwerk, B. Eijsbouts, 1915. R.C. CHURCH OF H. Willibrordus. Late Gothic entirely vaulted with cross-ribbed vaults CROSS BASILICA with an older tower at the crossing. The entire building faced with bluestone forms a fine example of a small town basilica in mature Brabantine style. The tower, as far as the lower structure is concerned, may still date from the 14th century; the church itself was built in the second half of the 15th and the first half of the 16th century. Interior: richly carved pulpit circa 1800. Originally a one-manual organ made in 1610 by L. Isore. Organ case with painted doors. Reconstructed in 1971 and extended with an under-positive and free pedal. In the three radiating chapels of the choir ambulatory three stained glass windows with representations of Willebrord (1902), Mary, Christ (signed 'Jul Dobbelaere Brugge', 1901).
