Omschrijving
Raadhuis. In oorsprong 16e eeuws, rechthoekig gebouw op de hoek van de Markt en de Kruisstraat, verbouwd in renaissance-trant in 1619 en volgende jaren. Het hoge zadeldak wordt aan de oostzijde afgesloten door een eenvoudige trapgevel en aan de westzijde door een rijk met natuurstenen sierdelen geornamenteerde topgevel met rolwerk, siervazen en bekronend segmentvormig schelpfronton, waaronder cartouche met: ANNO 1619. De gevels worden verlevendigd door natuurstenen banden, geblokte ontlastingsbogen en sierankers. De voorgevel heeft een houten kroonlijst en eenvoudige omlijsting van het bovenvenster in de middelste as uit 1770; de deuromlijsting dateert van een restauratie in 1871 door de architect Koch te Zwolle. Op de zuidwesthoek een natuurstenen sierlantaarn op saterconsoles in renaissancevormen. De vensters hebben acht- en zesdelige schuiframen.

Description
Town Hall. Originally 16th century, rectangular building at the corner of the Markt and the Kruisstraat, rebuilt in Renaissance style in 1619 and the following years. The high gabled roof is closed on the east side by a simple stepped gable and on the west side by a richly ornamented gable with natural stone decorative elements, scrollwork, ornamental vases and a crowning segmental shell pediment, beneath which a cartouche with: ANNO 1619. The facades are enlivened by natural stone bands, blocked relieving arches and ornamental wall anchors. The front facade has a wooden cornice and simple framing of the upper window in the central axis from 1770; the door framing dates from a restoration in 1871 by architect Koch from Zwolle. On the south-west corner a natural stone ornamental lantern on satyr consoles in Renaissance forms. The windows have eight- and six-pane sash windows.
