Description

Deep house with first storey and hipped roof which is free-standing on one side with a front section over 2/3 of the depth and a rear section on roughly square ground plan. The front section is partly cellared. The outer walls were rendered in the 19th century and the end facades, including the rear facade with natural stone drip moulding, topped off and provided with straight gutter mouldings. The oldest windows date from the first half of the 19th century; the T-windows in the front facade were added in the fourth quarter of the 19th century. The front section dates from the first half of the 16th century, was originally one storey high and received in the early 19th century a first storey with new beam layers and round timber roof truss structure. The rear section was built against the front section in the last quarter of the 16th century and contains original, simple oak beam layers with here and there still present early ogee consoles. The original broad floorboards are of both oak and fir wood. The oak roof without breastwork has simple roof trusses with hacked carpenters' marks and traces which mostly have carved carpenters' marks.
