Omschrijving
STADHUIS: ter plaatse van de Grafelijke Halle aan het Zand opgetrokken kern en tevens oudste deel is het rechthoekig blok aan de Markt, midden 14e eeuw. Ingangsdeur, balcon en vensters in 1630 nieuw aangebracht.
De slanke toren in 1914 hersteld naar het model van haar voorgangster welke in 1772 gesloopt was. De oude toren zal wat houten bovenbouw betreft niet voor het begin der 16e eeuw dateren.
Tegen 14e eeuws hoofdgebouw 2 vooruitspringende gevels met open zuilenhal, waarvan een gotisch 15e eeuw, in 1633 van pilasterstellingen voorzien, werd wellicht naar ontwerp van Sal. de Bray in 1886 gerestaureerd. De lange vleugel langs de Zijlstraat in 1620 waarschijnlijk naar ontwerp van Lieven de Key tot stand gekomen, omstreeks 1630 tot de Markt doorgetrokken.
In de Koningstraat de Pandpoort, spitsboog 15e eeuw toegang gevend tot 15e eeuwse kloostergang van het bij het stadhuis getrokken v.m. Dominicaner of Predikherenklooster.
Kloostergebouwen verbouwd, nog als kloosterkerk herkenbaar is de vleugel aan de Jacobijnenstraat waarin raadzaal en stadsbibliotheek zich bevinden.
Inwendig op de verdieping grote zaal met gotische balkenzoldering. Glazen uit de Ned. Herv. Kerk te Bloemendaal 1635/6. Kerkkronen uit Medemblik 17e eeuw. Serie Gravenportretten, 16e eeuwse kopieën naar de muurschilderingen in het Karmelietenklooster. Schepenzaal, nu Trouwzaal met geschilderde zoldering en schoorsteen met stuk door J. de Bray. Vroedschapskamer, nu oude raadzaal, twee schoorstenen omstreeks 1620 en tapisserieen de verovering van Damiate en verlenging van wapen voorstellend 1629; naar ontwerp van C. v. Wieringen en W. Thybaut. Serie portretten van Oranje's. Verder voortreffelijke interieurs o.a. 'Costerskamer', Justitiekamer, wethouderskamer.

Description
TOWN HALL: erected on the site of the Grafelijke Halle at the Zand the core and also oldest part is the rectangular block at the Markt, mid 14th century. Entrance door, balcony and windows newly installed in 1630.
The slender tower restored in 1914 according to the model of its predecessor which was demolished in 1772. The old tower will in respect to its wooden superstructure not date earlier than the beginning of the 16th century.
Against the 14th century main building 2 projecting facades with open colonnade, one of which is gothic 15th century, provided with pilaster formations in 1633, was probably restored according to design of Sal. de Bray in 1886. The long wing along the Zijlstraat came about in 1620 probably according to design of Lieven de Key, extended to the Markt around 1630.
In the Koningstraat the Pandpoort, pointed arch 15th century giving access to 15th century cloister corridor of the former Dominican or Preacher convent attached to the town hall.
Cloister buildings remodelled, still recognisable as cloister church is the wing on the Jacobijnenstraat in which council chamber and town library are located.

Wieringen and W. Thybaut. Series of portraits of the House of Orange. Furthermore excellent interiors including 'Costerskamer', Justice chamber, burgomasters' chamber.
