Omschrijving
Provinciehuis. De achtervleugel van het Provinciehuis met gevel aan de Singelstraat wordt gevormd door de rond 1900 gerestaureerde Sint Maartensschool uit ongeveer 1550; langgerekt gebouw met verdieping onder zadeldak tussen puntgevels. Smalle Groninger vensters met natuurstenen lateien en tussendorpel. Op de verdieping gevat in nissen.
In de Statenzaal fraaie schouw op zandstenen pilasters en met rijk gesneden boezem waarop schilderij door Collenius, 1712. In een vertrek kleinere gesneden schouw, 1700, met ovale schildering, allegorie op het recht. Op de verdieping betimmerde zaal gedekt door houten tongewelven, 1697; gesneden schouw waarop doek door Collenius.
De gevel van de Conciërge woning is hierheen overgebracht uit de Kijk in 't Jatstraat.
Zandstenen zuiver renaissance-gevel met verdieping en trapgevel in grote treden uit 1559. Beganegrond en verdieping geleed door halve zuilen, de top door pilasters, allen gecanneleerd en de zuilen in de benedenste helft geornamenteerd. Met de zuilen verkroppende hoofdgestellen. In de top in voluten eindigende klauwstukken en tussen de pilasters medaillons met uitstekende koppen van Alexander, David en Karel de Grote.

Provincial House. The rear wing of the Provincial House with facade on the Singelstraat is formed by the circa 1900 restored Sint Maartensschool from approximately 1550; elongated building with storey under gabled roof between pointed gables. Narrow Groningen windows with natural stone lintels and intermediate transom. On the storey set in niches.
In the States Room fine fireplace on sandstone pilasters and with richly carved breast on which painting by Collenius, 1712. In a room smaller carved fireplace, 1700, with oval painting, allegory on law. On the storey timber-lined hall covered by wooden barrel vaults, 1697; carved fireplace on which canvas by Collenius.
The facade of the Caretaker's house has been brought here from the Kijk in 't Jatstraat.
Sandstone pure Renaissance facade with storey and stepped gable in large steps from 1559. Ground floor and storey articulated by half columns, the top by pilasters, all fluted and the columns in the lower half ornamented. With the columns stepped main entablatures.
