Omschrijving
Uit gietijzer geconstrueerde twaalfzijdige vuurtoren, gebouwd in 1875 naar het ontwerp van Quirinus Harder, bouwkundige bij de dienst van het Loodswezen, de kust- en oeververlichting. Vervaardigd door de gieterij van de fa. Nering Bögel te Deventer. De twaalfhoekige, roodbruin geschilderde schacht heeft een omloop met witgeschilderde lichtkoepel.
De schacht bestaat uit ijzeren platen, die zodanig zijn geconstrueerd, dat een metselverband van grote steenblokken wordt gesuggereerd. De toren heeft twee spitsbogige ingangen met traceringen in de boogvelden, boven een waarvan het opschrift: "Onder de regering van Willem III, koning der Nederlanden enz. enz. enz., tijdens het bestuur van den minister van Marine W.F. van Erp Taalman Kip, voor draailicht tweede grootte. 1875".
In de schacht een aantal kleine spitsboogvensters.
Inwendig negen gietijzeren vloeren, gedragen door middenkolommen met Corinthische kapitelen. De vloeren worden verbonden door gietijzeren spiltrappen met balustrades, gedragen door voluutconsoles. De bekronende bal op de koepel draagt en windwijzer. De oorspronkelijke koepel werd in 1921 vervangen door de glazen koepel.
In dat jaar werden ook het optiek en het aandrijfmechanisme vernieuwd. De huidige koperen bekleding van de koepel dateert uit omstreeks 1958.

Description
Twelve-sided cast-iron lighthouse, built in 1875 after the design of Quirinus Harder, architect at the Pilot Service, coast and riverbank lighting service. Manufactured by the foundry of fa. Nering Bögel in Deventer. The twelve-sided, reddish-brown painted shaft has a gallery with a white-painted lantern cupola.
The shaft consists of iron plates, which are constructed in such a way that a mason's bond of large stone blocks is suggested. The tower has two pointed-arch entrances with tracery in the arch fields, above one of which the inscription: "Under the reign of Willem III, King of the Netherlands etc. etc. etc., during the administration of the Minister of Marine W.F. van Erp Taalman Kip, for revolving light second magnitude. 1875".
In the shaft a number of small pointed-arch windows.
Internally nine cast-iron floors, supported by central columns with Corinthian capitals. The floors are connected by cast-iron spiral stairs with balustrades, supported by volute consoles. The crowning ball on the cupola carries a weathervane. The original cupola was replaced in 1921 by the glazed cupola.
That year also the optics and the drive mechanism were renewed. The present copper cladding of the cupola dates from circa 1958.
